Official Book Trailer
King Nebuchadnezzar steps into the Ring with Beast of Babylon! And S.L. Burkhart steps firmly into Historical Fiction!
If I were to ask you about the greatest warrior king in history, you would say something like Alexander the Great, Henry V, Khalid Ibn Waleed, Charlemagne, Shaka Zulu, or Qin Shi Huang. But if we trust the ancients, one man stands a head above them all. This one-off novel tells the story of Earth's greatest warrior king, his fall into madness, and his return to the throne. Intrigue, betrayal, and wonder, come together in a historical fiction pulled from the pages of ancient texts.

A young adult fantasy series released to art and ambient music. A video-game-addicted teenager with no self-esteem is thrust into a desperate life trying to survive the mob, avenge his family, and prevent great evil. In doing so, he starts to look like a teenage 007. Chapters are published on YouTube at Cherb Sounds. Paper back Vellas are in the future.
A story told with music more than words, this sci-fi lo-fi tale can be listened to and read on YouTube. It follows a deep space researcher named Trill, who comes back online from several weeks being stranded on a distant planet, only to find that humanity is gone, and he seems to suddenly be the only one left. It explores the deep need for human connection and community, as well as the profound implications of loneliness on the human psyche.
The Empire is hopelessly corrupt. The state is failing, and the people are forgotten. The old order is hated and the people are demanding change. But from the social chaos will arise several heroes, all claiming to be the hope in the darkness. But in an age of moral ambiguity, which will show their true face, and what will it look like? In this epic fantasy, three veterans of the military, all forgotten by the state, end up waist-deep in a conflict they aren't sure they want to be a part of.

Immersive and ambient music with a story and a message. Some meant to listen to while reading thier story, some meant inspired by his books, and some for study or writing to set the scene.
a satirical weblog that aims to tell the truth like a mosquito takes on a cannon. Definitely overkill, definitely comical, and definitely entertaining.
A slightly more academic approach with thoughtful insight, research, and commentary covering issues on the horizon and confronting humanity.

Thank you for visiting my page. However you heard about me, know that I am an anthropologist at heart and that is reflected in all of my work. On top of being an avid theologian (MA) and philosopher, I try using my vast life experiences to paint pictures of life and the reconciliation of its purpose through fantasy, as well as several other means. The purpose of fantasy is to grow the imagination beyond our current understanding of life and the universe. The practical hope is that by studying our fantasies, we can put ourselves in situations we would never be in so we might be better prepared once we arrive at them. All humans use fantasy, and all humans use the imagination. How are you using yours?
I hope you find in my work (20+ years of it), opportunities to use your imagination to give yourself a chance to grow beyond what you have ever experienced or imagined before. - S.L. Burkhart
