Vegetable production – A game changer in my life.
MEWODA is working on food security project funded by Misereor through Trocaire Sierra Leone. The organization is presently implementing a 3 year funded Misereor project in Bombali in various communities. Below is a change story revealed by Sirra Conteh a project participant based in Sawulia village one of the targeted beneficiary communities. Sirrah is married with four (4) children (see picture below).

During a field visit to Sawulia community by one of our field supervisor, Adama B. Sesay, she met with Madam Sirrah Conteh, and during their discussion this was what she had to tell Adama:
"I thank God for the timely intervention of MEWODA, as before this time, it was hard for my kids to go to school. My husband never bothered about me or my kids which was so disheartening. I see the kids of my neighbours going to school whilst mine were not. She went on to expound on when the change happened: But the situation changed completely when I joined one of the MEWODA supported groups in my community. With the vegetable seeds and trainings given to me by MEWODA, I planted the vegetable and corn seeds given to me and I realized a good harvest. I now have the opportunity to sell some of my produce to the market, save some money which I then used to pay school fees for my two children."
With this life changing situation for Sirrah, She has vowed to embark on massive crop production which she thinks is a life changer for her and her family.
