How to Customize SkyView’s Display


For Android users, this will open up the Settings menu. Proceed to step 3. 

For iOS users, a toolbar will pop up at the bottom of the screen.




Disabling the camera will project celestial objects onto a black background. 

Enabling Screen Always On will keep your phone’s display from going to sleep while viewing the stars.

This option is on Android only.

Disabling Constellation Art will allow you to see the basic star formation of a constellation without the artistic rendering overlaid.

Disabling Constellation Lines will allow you to see constellations as they appear in the sky without lines connecting each star.

Disabling Satellites will hide satellites from your view.

Disabling Object Trajectories will hide the trajectories shown after tapping on a planet or a satellite.

Adjusting Visible Star Magnitude will increase or decrease the brightness/visibility of the stars.

This will open up a sub-menu where you can enable 1 of 3 options:

Enabling None will hide coordinates.

Enabling Right Ascension & Declination will attach celestial coordinates to your viewing reticle: RA on the left, expressed in hours, minutes, and seconds, and DEC on the right, expressed in degrees.

Enabling Azimuth & Elevation will attach coordinates to your viewing reticle: Azimuth on the left, and EL on the right, both expressed in degrees.

Disabling Horizon Line will hide the red line that shows cardinal directions from the center of your view.

Disabling Compass will hide the compass that is visible when looking straight.

This will open up a sub-menu where you can enable 1 of 3 options:

This will enable the default, full-color view.

This will turn all of the in-app graphics red.

This will turn all of the in-app graphics green.
