Augmented Reality Viewing

SkyView is an interactive application that gives the experience of observing space as if you are physically there. Utilizing your phone’s camera, SkyView projects an augmented-reality view of the cosmos for you to explore.
While exploring the app you will find: the planets of the solar system, stars, star clusters, constellations, satellites, nebulae & galaxies, and messier objects.
By collecting your location information, SkyView can calculate and project the position of celestial objects, satellite flybys, and other celestial events relative to your current location with great accuracy.

Educational Information on Celestial Objects

Don’t just see the stars, learn about them! When using the Augmented-Reality View, tapping on celestial objects will give you the figure’s animation, name, and a quick fact about the celestial object. More information about the celestial object will be found in the “ⓘ” icon. SkyView also provides a direct link to the object’s Wikipedia page.

Adjustable Time and Date

Travel through time! SkyView utilizes celestial object tracking data of the past and calculated trajectory data of the future to project the celestial object positioning of any given time. By adjusting the in-app clock, SkyView acts as a window into the past and future where you can see where celestial objects have been or will be.
