Unlike other Skyrim modding guides, this guide will be impartial, rather than giving you a list of mods to install. Although we will voice our own opinions, we will provide reasoning for doing so. We will not hand out and say you must use things that are up to personal preference, although we will provide examples and a few personal picks. Many other guides on the internet (although incredibly useful and well thought-out) are essentially just telling you how to install a specific modlist. This guide is intended to equip you with the tools needed to make Skyrim truly your own: not telling you what to mod, but how to mod.

This guide will provide you with almost all the resources needed to create a stable mod list. Before asking for support, please refer to this guide or Google. If you ever have trouble understanding something, we will be more than happy to assist you. If you are willing to learn and are non-toxic, you will receive the support you need. Don’t be shy.
This guide was created as a companion to the modding support channel in the r/Skyrim Discord server. Many resources are drawn from there, and contributors to this guide also act as modding support in that Discord channel. We will also be constantly updating and maintaining this guide. It should also be noted that we will not have written portions for every section of the guide. In this sense, it acts as sort of a compendium: a place providing resources for everything you need. All videos linked in this guide are absolutely essential.
Modding requires a decent bit of technical knowledge, but not too much. You will need to be comfortable navigating your PC. We will walk you through everything. The hardest part is all the reading! Don’t fall under the stereotype of “Skyrim players can’t read.” The entire process isn’t difficult at all once you’re comfortable. Let’s get started.
