Earthquake Physics

Semechah Lui, Ph.D.

Welcome!

The Earthquake Physics Lab at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) has a broad interest in the physics and mechanics of earthquakes and faults, and their associated hazards. Using both observational and numerical approaches, we study earthquake source processes and fault rupture dynamics to explore the complex physical mechanisms that drive such devastating phenomenon. The goal is to develop physics-based earthquake models and methodologies that can contribute to seismic hazard mitigation and earthquake prediction. Click here to check out our work!

For prospective graduate and undergraduate students interested in joining us, please email Prof. Lui to discuss potential research ideas and life at UTM (semechah.lui@utoronto.ca).
