"The gemstone markets are a busy and busling place, gemstones can be used for spells or items or crafts but the most profitable exchange? Sell to collectors"
Skybound: Collectors is a fast paced card game for between 2 -8 players, it is a relatively simple game that scales with the complexity of your gaming group as each player completes to be the first player to complete the required sets to secure three of the collectors, this game's win condition.
Players take the role of a gemstone trader, working the markets and their competition to display the required gems to satify collectors. Gemstones, as money and magic, are the true symbol of power, so don't expect everything to be so easy.
The first player to have satisfy their third collector wins the game.
Each player starts with 4 Gemstones & 4 Collectors
On the first turn, each player will choose 2 collectors to keep, 1 to Discard and 1 to put face up.
If at any point the gem deck is empty, the discard is Immediately shuffled to form a new deck.
Actions on cards must be followed in written order
If playing with more than 4 players, add in an extra deck half per for 5-6 players, or another gem deck for 7-8 players
Shuffle the Collectors deck and place it above the shop area.
Shuffle the Gem deck and place it at one end of the shop area.
2-4 players -> 4 of each gem and 2 opals
5-6 players -> 6 of each gem and 3 opals
7-8 players -> 8 of each gem and 4 opals
Decide which player goes first, then each player draws 4 gems and 4 collectors.
For the first round of the game; each player starts their turn by discarding one collector face down, and placing one collector face up in the shared area.
After the first player has discarded their collector and placed one face up, the shop is filled with 4 face up gems
After the final player has displayed and discarded their collectors do the following;
Less than 4 players: Reveal collectors from the deck until there are 4 face up
More than 4 players: Shuffle face up the collectors and deal 4 of them face up, discard the rest
Players take turns in collectors. Starting with the first player and proceeding clockwise.
On a players turn they choose to either:
'Work Their Store' (Taking a normal turn)
Satisfy a Collector (Completing an objective)
When you choose to work you will perform the following actions.
Draw a Card
Change Display 2 Times
Choose One From:
Draw a Card
Change Display 2 Times
Play a Gemstone
Then it is the next players turn, refresh the shop (reveal up to 4 gems)
Take a face up gemstone from the shop OR the top gemstone of the deck and put it into your hand.
Choose Either:
Place a gemstone from your hand face up into your display
Take a face up gemstone from your display and put it into your hand
Place a gemstone from your hand onto the table and resolve it's effect in the order they are written, then place it in the discard.
Discard the required gems from your display as shown on the collector card
You may satisfy collectors from your hand, or from the market.
If you satisfy a collector from the market, reveal a new collector from the collector deck
If you satisfy your third collector, you win the game.
The following examples explain offer a visual explanation of each gemstone, assuming a 3 player game.
This is the example board state, assume for each gem, that it is player 1's turn and they are playing the gem
Note you must display a gem if able, and discard a gem from each player's display if able.
If not able to display a gem or discard from any player, continue the action.
All cards must be drawn from the deck, not the shop. If the deck runs out mid draw, shuffle the discard to make a new deck and continue drawing cards.
Note: It is intended design to 'ASK' players for what gem they would be happy to let you take, that is not cheating.
It is also not cheating to lie, gems should be offered face down.
If you do not say the gem's name, or the wrong gem, both players do not draw
If you take a Beryl it is only a beryl. If you take the last card that wasn't a beryl, they become beryl.
If the discard is shuffled due to the drawing of the cards, then you may only select from the discarded cards.
The Beryl has two options.
When you "Display as a copy of another gem in your display" this takes your action to play the gem for it's effect.
When you play the card, you may use the effect of a gem in your display.
The diamond can be a useful way of denying players the ability to complete an objective you see them preparing for.
Note, you give EACH player an objective, if able. You count yourself, so if after taking from each player, you have less than the number of players, you decide who doesn't get an objective.
Obsidian may be used when it is not your turn to negate the gem effect of another player's play.
You may obsidian an obsidian, but it does not negate the required discard of a displayed gem.
If you have an obsidian in your display, you may use a Beryl as an obsidian.
Finally, the Opal does not have an effect when used, it is passive when played, and acts as a wildcard when you complete an objective.
