Dr. Seunghee Park is a Professor in the School of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU), where he also serves as the Director of the Global Smart City Graduate Program. He earned his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). His research centers on advancing smart construction IT and disaster managementto enhance the resilience, safety, and monitoring of civil infrastructure and construction sites through structural health monitoring (SHM), computer vision, and AI-driven data fusion.
Dr. Park’s work is supported by a broad range of sponsors, including the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF), where he leads the AI plus K-Construction Infrastructure Resilience Research Center (ERC) as Director. Notably, he has also served as the Director of the BK21 Four Education & Research Center, spearheading the development of next-generation talent in eco-resilient infrastructure. A highly cited scholar with an h-index of 41, Dr. Park has published more than 250 journal and conference articles and holds numerous patents related to image-based object recognition and elasto-magnetic/magnetic flux leakage sensing.
He is the recipient of numerous honors recognizing his scholarly research and professional service, including the prestigious 2025 SKKU Young Fellowship, the Minister's Commendation from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and the Presidential Award from the Korea Expressway Corporation. His leadership in the field is further evidenced by awards from major professional societies, including the Korean Society of Civil Engineers (KSCE), the Korea Institute for Structural Maintenance and Inspection (KSMI), and the Korean Society of Hazard Mitigation (KOSHAM).
In addition to his academic achievements, Dr. Park is an active entrepreneur serving as the CEO of Smart Inside AI Co., Ltd., a venture focused on AI-based infrastructure diagnostics and construction site safety monitoring. His global scholarly impact is highlighted by his inclusion in Stanford University and Elsevier’s 2025 list of the "World’s Top 2% of Scientists" (career-long). Dr. Park has also held key administrative roles, including Associate Dean of the College of Engineering at SKKU.
