Snow is becoming less reliable in central New Hampshire, and it's time to adapt

Cold temperatures are not as reliable as they once were and if we want people to love winter, having good skiing as often as possible will help them fall in love with the snow. We started with a modern groomer, which could break up the icy snowpack that results from more frequent freeze thaw cycles, but

Late in 2024, we showed that we can do it

In collaboration with Parks and Recreation and other Concord city staff, we carried out a demonstration that showed that we could start making snow at Beaver Meadow at very low cost using a single fan gun taking water from a city hydrant. This set up would be an exceedingly easy way to begin experimenting with snowmaking in order to determine the greater capital area community's interest in enhancing the skiing at Beaver Meadow

Snowmaking Demo a Success!

A huge thanks to the city of Concord and HKD snowmaking who helped us carry off a successful snowmaking demonstration at the Beaver Meadow Golf Course on January 6th. While we rented a snowgun and generator for the whole month of December, to account for unpredictable weather, we got a good snowmaking window almost immediately!
