Sunday February 9th, 2025 | Concord Community Nordic Trails at Beaver Meadow Golf Course
Local skiers looking to support our local trails? Never been on cross-country skis before but curious to try?
Whichever describes you we’d love to see you at Beaver Meadow Golf Course. This event pairs a low-key freestyle community race with a free Learn-to-Ski clinic for those new to the sport!
Free Learn to Ski: Equipment loans are included. Cross-country skiing is a fun way to get outside and enjoy winter right in your own backyard or at your local community ski center. These Learn-to-Ski clinics are geared towards people 6 years of age and older of all backgrounds and identities who have never been on cross-country skis before. We aim to create a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for people to try a new sport and discover the joy of gliding on snow. We ask that anyone under 14 years of age has a parent/caregiver with them participating or supervising.
SkiTheBeav 5k: This low-key, community-oriented 5k race can be as competitive as you'd like it to be. Previous iterations have featured both families pulling their kids in pulk around the race course as well as some pretty quick racers at the front! We will also have shorter BKL races for skiers from "lollipop" age up to 8th grade.
Registration: The learn to ski day is free, and the races feature registration fees to participate. All proceeds will be used to further improve the skiing at the Beaver Meadow Municipal Golf Course. Click here for Online Registration for all Events. Day of Registration is available for the community race, and day-of drop-ins are welcome for the learn to ski clinics for those not needing equipment.
Parking & Check-in: The Concord Community Nordic Trails at Beaver Meadow Golf Course are located at 1 Beaver Meadow Dr, Concord, NH, 03301. See map below for where to park. All participants should check-in at the Registration Table which will be in the Clubhouse.
Learn-to-Ski Equipment: We are pleased to be offer free equipment for use during the clinics. Supplies are limited and should be reserved in advance during Online Registration. You are also welcome to bring your own equipment or borrow equipment elsewhere. Equipment pick-up will be at the Red SkiTheBeav Trailer and runs from 10:40am-11:00am for the morning clinic and 1:10-1:30pm for the afternoon clinic. We are grateful to JacksonXC for use of their equipment in addition to SkiTheBeav's loaner equipment.
Learn-to-Ski Clinic Details: Clinics will be led by teachers and coaches who are experienced in working with people new to skiing. We ask that folks only attend one clinic so we can accommodate as many people as possible unless there is enough equipment to meet everyone’s needs. Clinics will cover classic cross-country skiing basics including skiing on flat terrain, getting up from a fall, climbing, and navigating downhills. Clinics will meet near the check-in (see map below).
Additional Offerings: Visit the Ski Expo where S&W Sports has arranged for demo skis from Fischer Ski for folks to try. They will also be selling cross country ski gear from Salomon and Rossignol. Visit The Broken Tee in the clubhouse for tasty food offerings.
Bags Storage: Please store bags and shoes in your vehicle.
What to Wear: It will be chilly so bring many layers! Visit the NENSA website HERE for a full rundown of suggestions.
Bathrooms: Indoor bathrooms are available in the Beaver Meadow Golf Course Clubhouse (see map below).
Indoor Space: Participants can warm up in the Beaver Meadow Clubhouse in the room with the virtual golf screen which is just to the right as you walk into the hallway. Please be mindful of other guests and don't leave any bags or gear in the clubhouse.
