Community Race and

Learn to Ski Day

The SkiTheBeav community came together this weekend at the highly anticipated 5k community race and Learn to Ski Day. Despite thin snow coverage, the event came off without a hitch, with participants showcasing both skill and community spirit.

The 5k ski race brought together skiers of all levels, navigating our local trails with determination and smiles. Despite the uncooperative winter, we had just enough snow that a dedicated team of shovelers were able to cover the trails and make the conditions remarkably good. The city's SnowRabbit groomer did fine work of renovating the hard pack, and making the trails safe and enjoyable.

Racers of all ages gathered for community races all through the morning, with at least 70 participantsfrom kindergartners to masterstaking part.

Learn to Ski Day added to the festive atmosphere as beginners joined seasoned skiers. Expert instructors fostered a supportive environment, and laughter echoed as new friendships formed. The weather, a perfect blend of sunshine and mild temperatures, created an ideal setting for both seasoned skiers and beginners.

The event was made possible by our partners at the Jackson Ski Touring Foundation, who provided the lion's share of the equipment to make the even possible. Special thanks also to S&W Sports, Fischer and Rossignol, who were on site with demo equipment for those looking to try new gear.

The SkiTheBeav 5k ski race and Learn to Ski Day highlighted the community's resilience and positive spirit, overcoming challenging weather to bring the community together. The Beaver Meadow Municipal Golf Course is about more than just skiing; it's a place where people unite, make lasting memories, and cultivate a shared appreciation for opportunities for outdoor community recreation.
