Thank you for your interest in OHVA's Career Technical Education Program! Students entering 9th -12th grade for the 2024-25 school year are welcome to apply to any pathway.
The application window opened on 2/12/2024 for students who will be 9th graders during the 2024-25 school year.
The application window will open on 3/20/2024 for students who will be 10th-12th graders during the 2024-25 school year.
Please Note: Due to the comprehensive programming of our CTE pathways, the application window closes early prior to the start of the school year. The application deadline for the 2024-25 school year is Monday, August 12th, 2024.

Application Requirements
To be considered for one of OHVA's Career Technical Education Programs, the student must:
Complete our internal application, agreeing to the terms of our policy below.
Respond to application follow-up questions or have a personal conversation with one of the Career Technical Education Administrators/Support Staff regarding the demands and expectations of being in a CTE pathway.
Be on target with their credits for graduation.
Commit to participating for the duration of the pathway (no dropping mid-year).
Failure to do any of these things will result in the student not being permitted to participate in OHVA's Career Technical Education Career Program.

Career Technical Education Program Internal Policy
An excerpt of our Career Technical Education Program policy has been placed below to bring attention to the high expectations placed on students that apply to, and are accepted into, OHVA's Career Technical Education Program as a pathway student. By choosing to participate in this program, effort and consideration needs to be given in regards to class attendance, coursework completion, and CTSO participation. We pride ourselves on providing a flexible academic experience at OHVA, which is why included in this policy is the opportunity for pathway students to communicate and work with their teachers to meet the outlined expectations while still providing the flexibility our students may need.
Career Technical Education Program Expectations of Class Attendance, Coursework Completion, and CTSO Participation:
The vision of the Career Technical Education Program at OHVA is to give hope by empowering students to be engaged, responsible, productive members of the community, providing them with the experience, readiness, and resources to remove barriers, close the skills gap, and make a positive impact in society. Two of the most important components of this vision are engagement and responsibility. To that end, each student that chooses to apply, and is accepted, to one of our state approved CTE pathways must adhere to certain expectations that are stated below .
OHVA CTE Program Pathway Students are expected to:
Commit to participating for the duration of the pathway (no dropping mid-year)
Attend ALL Newrow Sessions for their pathway courses
Complete coursework for the pathway courses by the due date
Maintain passing grades in all pathway courses
Participate in:
Career Technical Student Organization (CTSO)
Work-Based Learning (WBL) activities that are tied to an approved learning agreement and recorded in supported tracking platform (accumulation of a minimum of 250 hours is expected during program completion)
Quarterly conferences with school counselor during which a career/graduation plan will be completed and updated annually
Prepare for and Take:
WebXam pretests for each pathway course at the beginning of the year
WebXam posttests for each pathway course at the end of the year
Earn at least one 1-point valued Industry Recognized Credential test within the program
Create a Portfolio by building a Tallo profile or personalized website to store documentation of CTE achievements (WBL, CTSO, IRC, Resume, letters of recommendation, etc.)
The CTE Program Administration reserve the right to remove a student from the program for failure to meet the CTE Program requirements set forth by OHVA. These may include, but are not limited to:
Failure to attend more than three ClassConnect Sessions in a semester for pathway courses, without notifying the teacher of the absence PRIOR to the class, and watching the recording promptly after the absence
Failure to complete coursework by the due date three times in a semester, without notifying the teacher that the work will be late PRIOR to the due date
Failure to take a WebXam pre or posttest
Attending less than 75% of virtual CTSO meetings
Failure to have an approved WBL plan in place by the end of year one in a program
Failure to attempt at least one Industry Recognized Credential test
