11th march - 1st day of our Czech LTTA-staff
This was the 1st day of activities, which began with the Reception Ceremony at the Municipal Auditorium in the village of Ostrožská Nová Ves, with presentations by all partners.
We were presented by the students with musical activities, dance, gymnastics skills, theater and presentation of work done by the students on Artificial Intelligence and ways of using it.
After this ceremony, we went to visit the facilities of the Základní Škola school, in groups, accompanied by students who kindly explained to us the themed rooms, the classes and how the school works.
After a short break, we went to the robotics room to learn with the students how to use the Uzobots, virtual reality glasses and learn how to 3D print, etc.
At the municipal library we attended a presentation about the region, the education system, difficulties and good practices in the municipality regarding solving problems for the population in general and education in particular, and where questions were asked to the Mayor of the Municipality about this region.
In the Mayor's office, we exchanged gifts between the schools.
12th march - 2nd day of our Czech LTTA-staff
The 2nd day of activities at Ostrožská Nová Ves school was intense. We started by visiting the Living Water Center – “Skanzen - Water of life - Živá voda Modrá - botanická a sladkovodní expozice”, where we enjoyed the freshwater fish, with special emphasis on the sturgeons, which inhabited the waters of the Morava River. In the past, they even caught some specimens measuring around 4 meters. We enjoyed the carp, eels and even a type of lamprey that lives in this river. In the same area, we can also appreciate the identification and classification of some native local flora, and the recovery of the European bison, almost extinct, but which, with these new specimens, can be seen and appreciated. Just as the tradition of people and nature are always related, so too the ancestral connection between human beings and religion always goes hand in hand. We were invited to visit the Basilica of the Assumption of Mary and Saints Methodius and Cyrillo, in Velehrad, which, being in the Baroque style, was installed on a religious site from the Romanesque period, and where traces of previous religious occupations were also found.
After Professor Lucie's explanation, we were able to marvel at the richness of the interior of this monument of the Cistercian Order.
We went on to visit a very peculiar zoo. The KovoZOO. Ready to visit the zoo’s “animals”, we came across the biggest surprise of the day. They were animals made with recycled and reused iron parts from the recycling center. The animals had a picture with an explanation of the real animal and then an iron construction of the animal represented. There was even a dragon from the House of Dragons series, among other images from children's fantasy like “Automans”.
Another visit this day was to the “Bata Canal” in Veselí nad Moravou, where we were shown the map of Rui Morava's new canal, which now allows navigation along almost its entire length and control the floods that normally inundated houses and fields in this region. Afterwards we went to visit the Explanatory Centre of the White Carpathian Mountains Nature Reserve - “Dům přírody Bílých Karpat”.
13th march - 3rd day of our Czech LTTA-staff
The 3rd day of activities for this project started very early, and with the rain and cold bothering us a little, but the activities were very interesting. We went to the open-air museum “Skanzen Rochus”, where we were able to observe the traditions and life of the peasants, their work tools, their living conditions and the architecture of their houses and how they obtained their food. We cooked bread rolls in a wood-fired oven, with all the students enjoying cooking their bread or pancakes.
We returned to the city of Uherské Hradiště and with a city guide we walked through several streets and understood the entire recent history of the foundation, formation and growth of this city.
The day was ending and this learning mobility about learning in nature and the benefits of applying outdoor learning in the classroom was coming to an end.
At the farewell ceremony, we received certificates and were treated to traditional songs.
The next day was approaching and after dinner it was time to get ready to return to our school full of information and gratitude for the wonderful activities prepared by the teachers at the Základní Škola school in Ostrožská Nová Ves.
