Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
Please check your voter registration. One of our members was curious as to why her husband received a ballot recently but she did not. She went on the Vote 411 website and found that her registration of many years had been listed as inactive. After inquiries to the county’s Supt. of Elections office, she found that her local post office had returned her ballot to the County Clerk’s office and that her registration was listed as inactive. She now has to register again before she can vote. Please don’t wait. Time is running out. If you haven’t gotten a ballot yet, go to vote411.org immediately and check to see if your status is listed as "inactive.”
In order to resolve the issue she had to register again at the Superintendent of Elections office. Then once they processed the registration, she had to go to the County Clerk’s office with her new voter’s registration card and get a ballot. In Burlington County, they are in the same building. Someone told her that she was not alone in having to do this. She was also told that she was lucky to have caught the inactive status now on the state’s new vote411.org website because soon people will be unable to re-register for the midterm elections.

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
It starts with YOU. Help drive a November Blue Wave.
The 2026 midterms are less than two months away, and the Evesham Democratic Club needs every one of us engaged to build a Blue Wave in Evesham and across New Jersey.
Join us on Wednesday, September 30 at 7 PM via Zoom to learn why this election demands action now — and exactly how you can help. We’ll cover early voting essentials, key dates and ballot box locations, what every voter must do to prepare, how we protect our vote, and how we organize as Blue Wave ambassadors. A Q&A will ensure you’re fully ready for November.
Together, we can make sure every eligible voter casts a ballot, every vote is counted, and the results are honored. More info and signup here: https://www.mobilize.us/southjerseynowindivisible/event/1028183/

Call To Action: Fight the Trump Administration’s Election Interference
The Trump administration has attempted to seize voting records and other sensitive election data, attempted to nationalize, or take away states rights to hold and control their elections, threatened to use ICE at polling places, tried to ban all mail-in-voting, tried to use an executive order to to require proof of citizenship to vote, among other attempts!
Demand that your representatives condemn this unconstitutional interference and urge your state leaders to protect the integrity of our elections!
Script: Hi, my name is (name) and I’m a constituent from (town).
I’m calling to express my concerns about the Trump administration’s ongoing interference with our election systems. I ask that (your representative) pass legislation to block election interference by federal officials, including the unlawful seizure of our voting records and ICE agents at polling locations.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
Change happens when LARGE numbers of people take action.
Many of you are new and don't know the story of how Senator Andy Kim was elected to Congress in 2018. 306,875 votes were cast in that election. Andy won by 3,000 Vote by Mail Ballots. That's 0.01% of the vote. 65,000 Applications for Vote by Mail Ballots were mailed in District 3. SJNOWIndivisible sent 36,000. We now have a nationally recognized Senator because of that. What we do matters. All of these Senate races are going to be very close.
This is going to be my last request for your participation.
I have over 3,000 postcards left that can be sent to register new Democratic Voters.
I have 200 stamps which I will give to the first people who request them.
Register New Democratic Voters to flip the Senate!! The last day to register to vote is Oct 13. Time is running out. There are 6 Senate races we are working on: MI, GA, KS, NC, OH, TX.
You can do as few as 10 postcards. Request more if you want. Last day to mail them is Oct 6. I give you EVERYTHING , including directions, names and addresses and the postcard script. All you have you do is put a stamp on the postcard and mail it. Everyone can do this. Even if you've never done them. You pick up your package on my porch in Mount Laurel.
Discount Stamp site is 24 cents. They take about a week to arrive.
Every person can make a difference. If you haven't done anything yet, (and even if you have) now is your chance!!
We need a few more people to sign up for the Pumpkin Festival on Oct 4 to Register new voters. At this one, we work with SJNOW-Alice Paul Chapter
Blackwood Pumpkin Festival Oct 4 (10-1 & 1-5) (Diane Stenzel)

AI Kill Switch Act.
CTA: Call your Representatives! This is important stuff!
AI technology is advancing more rapidly than humans’ understanding of it, and it’s not just outsiders who are alarmed by the pace. In July, more than 1,300 employees from leading AI companies signed an open letter voicing concerns that AI is developing faster than humans’ ability to understand, oversee, or control it.
H.R. 9917, the AI Kill Switch Act, is a bipartisan bill that would require AI companies to maintain the technical infrastructure to slow down, suspend, or fully shut down their models, report serious safety incidents, and submit systems for mandatory testing before deployment.
SCRIPT: Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from { }
I’m calling to urge [Name] to cosponsor and support H.R. 9917, the AI Kill Switch Act. AI capabilities are developing at a speed that could exceed human understanding. We should act now to ensure that companies have the tools and infrastructure they need to regain control of their technology in an emergency.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
Call your Congressmen and Tell Them To Restore Food Safety
Since Trump took office in 2025, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has been hit hard by staffing cuts, leadership turnover, and policy changes—and the result is a very weak food safety system.
The FDA has lost thousands of employees due to staffing cuts, and the CDC and USDA’s meat and poultry inspection service have lost thousands more. Entire advisory committees on food safety and meat and poultry inspection were eliminated, and federal labs that researched foodborne pathogens were told to relocate or shut down, with no plan in place. The CDC also removed several pathogens, including the parasite Cyclospora, from the Foodborne Diseases Active Surveillance Network.
Americans are already feeling the impact. This summer, the U.S. saw its largest-ever outbreak of cyclosporiasis, a parasitic illness traced to contaminated lettuce, with more than 15,700 cases confirmed. Public health experts say the response has been extremely slow and disorganized because the necessary staff and labs no longer exist.
Food safety isn’t a partisan issue. Call your Representative and tell them: Congress must press the FDA and HHS to reinstate the food safety officials, inspectors, and laboratory staff who have been let go, and fully fund food safety inspection and outbreak-response programs at the FDA, CDC, and USDA.
Representative Herbert Conaway 202-225-4765
Senator Cory Booker 202-224-3224
Senator Andy Kim 202-224-4744

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
Register New Democratic Voters to flip the Senate!! The last day to register to vote is Oct 13. Time is running out. There are 5 Senate races we are working on.
You can do as few as 10 postcards and the Discount Stamp site that I have repeatedly sent you is 24 cents a stamp.
Every person can make a difference. If you haven't done anything yet, (and even if you have) now is your chance!!
We also have 2 College Voter Registration opportunities that need to be filled, TCNJ and Monmouth University. No experience is necessary. We will train you on site. At TCNJ you are working with their student Voter Registration Team. You truly don't need to know anything. If you haven't done College Voter Registration, here's your chance.

The other opportunity is new to us. Monmouth University has about 5000 students. I was at Raritan Valley Community College yesterday-also over an hour ride. I was with 5 volunteers, none of whom had ever done Voter Registration before. It wasn't a problem. There are so many unregistered eligible voters. Many of the registered students didn't know there was an election Nov 3. Make a difference! I will be at Monmouth University with you. We can carpool if you live near Mount Laurel. I need you!!

Call to Action: Stop Trump’s Crypto Corruption
Last year, the House passed the CLARITY Act, a bill disguised as “crypto regulation” that actually serves the billionaires and bad actors at the center of today’s crypto chaos. This bill doesn’t protect consumers, doesn’t close money laundering loopholes, and does nothing to stop the biggest threat of all: Trump’s crypto-fueled bribery machine. Now, the CLARITY Act is being considered in the Senate.
Trump has already amassed 1.4 billion in the last year alone, and the latest bill text doesn’t include any meaningful ethics.
The Senate is expected to vote to open debate on the CLARITY Act TOMORROW, September 15. Keep calling your Democratic US senators to demand they reject this toothless crypto “regulation” bill that would only further enable Trump’s crypto corruption. The CLARITY would only further enable Trump’s crypto corruption.
Senator Andy Kim:(202) 224-4744
Senator Corey Booker: (202) 224-3224

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
1. Get Ready for the MIdterms: Make sure your voter registration is up to date and check it regularly. You need to know if your registration has been removed or changed due to some G.O.P. shenanigans so you can get it fixed before the election. You can easily check your registration by texting VOTER to 59798 or at https://vote.gov/register/new-jersey. This way of checking your registration is especially nice as it can be shared with friends and relatives can also check theirs. Let's share it. We will win the elections!
2. Save the Clean Water Act:
The EPA under Trump is trying to do away with parts of our most important clean water laws, and we need Congress to stop this. The EPA and the Army Core of Engineers have proposed a new rule narrowing which streams and wetlands are protected. if finalized, this new rule could destroy the waterways most vulnerable to pollution, destruction, and overdevelopment. Without federal permits and safeguards, wetlands that absorb floods, protect wildlife and keep drinking water clean will not be protected. Even streams that do not run all year still need help so polluters can’t operate there, and families aren’t left at risk of contamination.
Script:
“Hi! My name is (name). I am a constituent from (city zip*). I am calling my Rep/Sen to stop Trump‘s EPA from weakening the Clean Water Act. Please support immediate oversight hearings, block this rollback, and keep federal protections of streams and wetlands. It’s not “clarity and regulatory certainty” that they are seeking. They want more protection for rich polluters and less help for everyday families facing floods, droughts, and contaminated water.”
*Please use full address if leaving a voicemail.
Phone numbers:
Rep. Herb Conaway: 202-225-4765, 609-438-6290
Rep. Donald Norcross: 202-225-6501, 856-427-7000
Sen. Corey Booker: 202-224-3224, 856-338-8922
Sen. Andy Kim: 202-224-4744, 856-757-5353
3. Support Congressional Redistricting in NJ: As partisan gerrymandering has added to a weakening of the Voting Rights Act, we need to tell our state legislators and the Governor to amend the New Jersey State Constitution to allow us to suspend the current New Jersey Redistricting Commission, which is not scheduled to convene until 2030. Putting the issue on the next ballot will allow New Jersey voters to decide whether to redraw Congressional districts before the 2028 election.
SCRIPT
“Hi, my name is (name). I am a constituent from (city zip*) I am calling to ask my Sen/Assem/Governor to support amending the New Jersey Constitution to allow suspension of the current New Jersey Redistricting Commission, which does not convene until 2030. Please act now so New Jersey voters can decide if Congressional districts should be redrawn in time for the 2028 election.” *Please use full address if leaving a voicemail.

Assemblyman Bal it Singh 856-461-3997

Governor Mikie Sherrill 609-292-6000
4. Stop the Sexualization of Children Act (HR 7661 and S4925), better known as “The National Book Ban.”:
These bills were introduced by Republicans to amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965. The bills prohibit use of federal education funds in any public school classroom or library for books that have references to gender dysphoria or transgenderism, claiming they are sexually-oriented materials. The Act forces schools and libraries, if threatened, to consider pulling LGBTQ+ books or they could lose their Title One federal funding support. Major literary and library groups like the American Library Association actively oppose this bill as an overreach of the federal government, calling it government censorship.
Script:
“Hello. My name is (name), and I’m a constituent from (city, zip).* HR 7661 and S4925 or the Stop the Sexualization of Children Act (known as the national book ban) does the following:
1. It eliminates LGBTQ+ representation in book collections
2. It causes the loss of critical Title One funding for low income schools
3. It has a chilling effect, and is thus is a cause of preemptive self-censorship
4. It infringes on first amendment and parental rights and
5. It brings financial risk to authors and creative industries.
Please stop this unwanted and unneeded National Book Ban!”

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
5 Ways to Support the Critical Swing NJ-7 Rebecca Bennett Campaign
Knock Doors in Bridgewater, NJ This Weekend (Sep 5-6) and Other Sep Weekends
-20 SJNOW Indivisible people have knocked, with great results, over 1.4K doors in the NJ-7 Somerset County towns of Somerville, Bridgewater, Raritan Borough, and Warren during the past 7 weekends!
-We will continue our Bridgewater door knocking this weekend (Sep 5-6) mainly during the 10 AM-1 PM shift on SAT, Sep 5. Three more Bridgewater canvassing shifts are available during 1-4 PM on SAT, Sep 5 AND during 10-1 & 1-4 on SUN, Sep 6. Newcomers are welcome, and they will receive canvassing training. We also encourage people that are not quite sure that they want to do this to go out on a shift with one of our experienced canvassers and simply observe how things are done. Give it a try!
-Please email Pete Bilazarian at pbilazar@aol.com, or Rich Cleaver at richcl205@gmail.com, for more details, if you want to join us this weekend, OR during future weekends in September.
BRAND NEW. SAVE THE DATE. WED, Sep 16, 7-8 PM.
A special Zoom "Canvassing Training" Presentation by Rich Cleaver and other SJNOW Indivisibles will be offered to potential new and experienced canvassers in many NJ Indivisible groups, in order to obtain more door knockers for Rebecca's campaign. This event is sponsored by the Plainsfield Area Indivisible group in Union County. We will provide this group's Mobilize link for this event in future emails. Everyone is welcome to attend. This collaborative special event represents a very positive result for our new Canvassing Organizing Group (COG). The COG has been reaching out to many NJ Indivisible groups in Central and North Jersey, encouraging them to provide more Bennett Campaign door knockers and offering to assist them in doing this.

CALL TO ACTION. Tell Congress: Act NOW to Preserve Our Public Lands
Congress must act NOW to preserve and protect our public lands. The administration has a pattern of treating public lands as assets to be sold off rather than preserved for public use. The administration has weakened the U.S. Forest Service agency's ability to manage the 150 national forests by moving its headquarters and closing research facilities. It has reduced the size of public lands designated as National Monuments and repealed longstanding regulations for both land and wildlife protection. The mismanagement, destruction, and sale of public lands must stop now. It will be too late to wait for the courts to intervene.
Tell our congressmen to take action now to preserve and protect our public lands. Tell them to oppose the sale of our national parks, including sections of Yosemite National Park; oppose the reorganization of the U.S. Forest Service; and oppose the repeal of regulations that protect our public lands and wildlife.

Virtual Community Support Circle for Activists and Allies: In the face of the current regime’s devastating actions, it is normal that we are all experiencing grief, outrage and overwhelm. As witnesses and advocates, we are likely to be experiencing collective trauma. In response to these recent events, Indivisible is offering a dedicated online support space for local community activists. This will be a safe space to process any grief & loss that’s coming up, as well as a space to learn about vicarious trauma and compassion fatigue. Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
1. Here are 4 Ways to Support the Critical NJ-7 Rebecca Bennett Campaign
They have also distributed 36 Bennett lawn signs to voters, and they have recruited 7 new local volunteers for the campaign. Our canvassers have received commendations from both Senator Andy Kim and the Bennett campaign, and they have successfully reached out to other NJ Indivisible groups to obtain more Bennett door knockers.
-We have found so far that Rebecca's positions on affordability (i.e., significantly reducing the costs of groceries, housing, healthcare, childcare, energy, and other items) and anti-corruption (e.g., banning Congressional stock trades in contrast to her GOP opponent, Tom Kean Jr) are resonating with voters.

2. CALL TO ACTION. Tell Congress: Enforce the War Powers Resolution for the Iran War
Again, the Trump administration has resumed strikes on Iran--still no Congressional Approval. More strikes mean putting more troops at risk, and more taxpayers' dollars wasted. We must end this illegal war. Congress must enforce the War Powers Resolution.
Call your congressmen and tell them to enforce the bipartisan War Powers Resolution; to oppose any further military action and to hold hearings on the Trump administration's justification for these new unauthorized strikes.
