Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
CALL TO ACTION
A proposed New Jersey law that would force some of the world’s largest fossil fuel companies to shell out $50 billion over two decades continues to plow ahead in the halls of Trenton.
The “Polluters Pay Act” advanced out of the Assembly Appropriations Committee on Tuesday, setting the bill up for a vote before the full Assembly. The bill is scheduled for a budget committee hearing Wednesday afternoon in the Senate.
If it crosses the finish line, the Polluters Pay Act would penalize companies that have engaged in the trade or business of extracting fossil fuel or refining crude oil since 1995, and have contributed to greenhouse gas emissions. The legislation would generate $2.5 billion annually from an estimated 82 fossil fuel corporations, its sponsors say.
The money would be earmarked for flood protection, stormwater and sewage system upgrades, extreme weather preparation, health care related to climate change, upgrades to the electrical grid and energy-efficiency projects, among other uses.
The bill for State Senate is S2338 and for the Assembly is A3735

Hello SJNOW Indivisibles,
1. URGENT. Email the US Postal Service (USPS) Opposing the Proposed New Voter Suppression Rule Regarding Mail-In Ballots. (You must do this by July 2!)
-The USPS has proposed a New Rule that attempts to give the USPS unconstitutional oversight of elections in line with a recent unlawful Presidential Executive Order already being challenged by Voting Rights advocates via multiple lawsuits. This awful New Rule would require each State to create a List of Voters eligible to vote in federal elections and assign a unique ballot barcode to each Voter. The USPS would then refuse to deliver ballots to anyone not on the List.
-Fight against this latest Trump Regime Voter Suppression scheme by sending an Email ASAP with your own unique comment opposing this Proposed New Rule to: PCFederalRegister@usps.gov, using the subject line "Ballot Mail". Your Email comments must contain your name and physical address (you cannot comment anonymously).
2. Please attend the SAT, JUN 27, 2:30-4 PM "Project World Cup Spotlight" Anti-ICE Protest at Darien Street and Pattison Ave (on the sidewalk) in Philly, sponsored by Indivisible Philadelphia. One sign you can make that depicts a major theme for this event is "Soccer Unites, ICE Divides". Another sign you can make is "Kick Away ICE's Human Rights Abuses".
-This International Protest is one of many protests that are occurring in 8 World Cup Cities in the US, Canada, and Mexico to force the issue of ICE's human rights abuses onto the global stage (with media coverage present from across the globe).
-Location is across the street from Lincoln Financial Field (now called Philadelphia Stadium) on the side of Citizens Bank Park. The World Cup Soccer Match at the Stadium begins at 5 PM. We plan to meet at 1 PM at Woodcrest Station to take PATCO into Philly, followed by the Broad St Subway Line to Philadelphia Stadium.
3. CALL TO ACTION:
Oppose Liability Protection for Rideshare Companies
The BUILD America 250 Act now includes a provision that would shield companies like Uber and Lyft from lawsuits when passengers are injured, sexually assaulted, or killed at the hands of their drivers.
This amendment, added by a Republican Representative during markup at a House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee hearing, would limit the ability to hold rideshare companies accountable for harm caused by drivers on their platforms. Rideshare companies have faced growing legal scrutiny over sexual assault and harassment by drivers, with more than 3,600 cases pending against Uber alone. Attorneys say the bill’s amendment could be used to dismiss sexual assault lawsuits that are already working their way through the courts.
Uber has waged an aggressive campaign to limit their legal exposure on multiple fronts. In 2025, they successfully lobbied for liability-limiting laws in Georgia and California, saving the company hundreds of millions of dollars annually, and earlier this year they bankrolled a California ballot measure campaign to cap attorney fees in accident cases.
At a time when autonomous vehicle services are rapidly expanding and questions of liability are only becoming more complex, Congress should be strengthening oversight of rideshare safety, not providing legislative immunity for billion-dollar companies. Call your Representatives and demand that they oppose this amendment.

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
1. Attend Today's Workers and Retirees Rally - Focus on Social Security Workers: Join us today from 5:00 - 6:00 as we continue to support workers and retirees. These workers include especially Social Security Administration (SSA) workers, 80% of which are women. They have taken many hits from the vicious DOGE funding cuts (20% loss of jobs) and mean-spirited management at the agency.
-NEW. The rally will start at the corner of Rte 73N and Fellowship Road in Mount Laurel (Miller’s Ale House parking lot). After 30 minutes we will move to the nearby SSA office to meet with the local AFGE Union Leader and to show employees there our support for their Demands of the SSA. These Demands include: full staffing, better pay and benefits, flexible schedules, and the restoration of telework. Both the AFGE NJ Statewide and Mt Laurel Union Leaders have expressed much gratitude for SJNOW Indivisible's many Rallies this year that have supported their fight against the regime. Please try to attend this unique event.
-You can also register your support by clicking on the following link, which will allow you to customize a form letter and automatically send it to your federal legislators based on your ZIP code: here
2. NEW. Please attend and bring signs to the SAT, JUN 27, 2:30-4 PM "Project World Cup Spotlight" Anti-ICE Protest at Darien Street and Pattison Ave (on the sidewalk) in Philly, sponsored by Indivisible Philadelphia. 3. CALL TO ACTION:
Oppose Cuts to Veterans Disability Benefits - HOUSE VOTE THIS WEEK
Without any Democratic input, Congressional Republicans have introduced a massive package addressing veterans known as the Take Care of America’s Veterans Act. Although this Act has several beneficial provisions, it also includes steep cuts to veterans' disability benefits. More specifically, the Act includes drastically slashing benefits for an estimated 1.5 million veterans suffering from common service-related conditions, and reducing future disability compensation by nearly $60 billion over 10 years. This was a key element of Project 2025. Veterans from across the political spectrum have denounced this bill and now it is our turn.
Call your Representative and tell him to oppose the Take Care of America's Veterans Act, unless the disability compensation reductions are removed.

3. CALL TO ACTION:
Save the Programs that Educate Millions of Americans and Make Our Country Stronger
Since inauguration, the Trump administration has aimed to completely eliminate the Department of Education and the programs it oversees. Changes from this administration slash federal funding for public schools, eliminate support for students with disabilities, end enforcement of civil rights protections in education, and abolish federal student loan and workforce development programs. The changes also transfer remaining education programs to other agencies that will not sufficiently enforce them (such as transferring the Child Care Services Program from the Dept. of Education to HHS under RFK, Jr.). These changes are a direct attack on students, teachers, and families— and leave future Americans unable to compete globally. America is directly weakened by leaving its citizens less educated.
Call your Representative and Senators and ask them to:
conduct oversight into the administration’s unconstitutional dismantling of a federal agency without congressional approval, and
refuse to pass any federal funding bill that enables this administration’s drastic cuts to vital education programs.

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
CALL TO ACTION:
Reduce Republicans’ Military Budget
Congressional Republicans plan to approve $1 trillion in the Pentagon‘s budget, this while working families and seniors are told that there is no money for health and safety programs like food assistance, health and medical plans, education, affordable housing, childcare, and clean energy, etc. The House defense bill of $1.1 trillion is the largest in US history. The House and Senate have advanced their versions of the defense budget, bringing Congress closer to locking in this huge increase.
Script:
“Hi my name is (name) and I am a constituent from (city, zip)*. I want my Rep/Sen to turn down Republicans’ bloated military budget draft. Congress should control federal spending. They can reject bloated military demands and give better oversight. Refuse the Pentagon’s request while domestic programs are being cut. Please do not rubberstamp a budget that sacrifices what seniors and working people need. The Iran war has cost us $113+ billion so far. Now we will also be paying billions more for war damages by releasing frozen assets of $12 to 24 billion, lifting sanctions and possibly paying around $300 billion for Iran’s reconstruction fund. Stop this madness, please!

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
CALL TO ACTION:
Oppose USPS Rule Change
State officials face a hard choice – hand over state voter lists to the Trump administration or risk losing USPS delivery for mail-in ballots.
Trump signed an executive order this spring to crack down on mail-in voting, giving the Feds a role in what states have always handled, according to the constitution. This rule puts more personal voter information in the hands of Trump officials to use when they supposedly are looking for fraud. Also the states may not have time to reformat all their voter data to satisfy upcoming Federal regulations before the midterm elections. 23 Democrat-led states and DC are suing the federal government over this executive order. This summer will be active with high-stakes judicial rulings, but there is one thing that we can do right now!
Please submit a public comment by email to the USPS before Thursday, July 2 at 5 PM ET. Email to PCFederalRegister@usps.gov a brief opinion to be tabulated. Be sure to put “ballot mail” in the subject line and include your full name and full address in the body. Add a few sentences explaining why this rule would harm voters like you, your family or your community. Personal comments carry a lot of weight! I did this and it was so easy. Please spread the word…

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
CALL TO ACTION:
Destroying Evidence of Climate Change
The Trump administration has announced that, through the National Science Foundation, they will dismantle another tool for understanding climate change. More than 900 deep sea ocean sensors will be pulled from the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. These sensors tell us just how close ocean currents are to climate tipping points for causing extreme global weather changes
Script:
Hi, my name is (name). I am a constituent from (city, zip*). I want my Rep/Sen to investigate Trump‘s attacks on climate science. Please stop the Trump administration from eliminating the climate research that we need to protect our planet. The Trump administration is having the National Science Foundation eliminate 900+ sensors in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans which monitor salinity, temperatures, greenhouse gases, currents, fish and other markers of climate change. Now the Trump administration is, in essence, eliminating proof of ocean climate change by stopping all ocean research projects in relation to climate change.

By the end of our series, you’ll be equipped to mount a safe, immigrant-aligned response when there’s an emergency action needed in your community to protect your neighbors from Trump’s detention and deportation regime.
Sessions begin on July 9. Learn more and register to secure your spot here.

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
PLEASE READ THIS!!
College Voter Registration is coming in the fall. Many colleges choose Sept 16 which is National Voter Registration Day or Oct 5-9 which is National Voter Registration Week. If you are interested in doing College Voter Registration, and I hope you are since it's a blast, please keep these dates open. Sign up sheets will go out a month before and you have to be on the lookout for them or you will get closed out. I always make them obvious in the daily emails. You just have to scan your emails!!
No experience is necessary but I am going to be scheduling Voter Registration training sessions for those of you who want to feel more comfortable. I thought the training was very helpful.

Call To Action:
Now is the time to make our voices heard and support Ukraine. The House of Representatives passed the Ukraine Support Act by a vote of 226-195. 18 Republicans joined the Democrats despite opposition from Trump and House leadership. The legislation would impose new sanctions on Russia's energy and financial sectors and provide 1 billion dollars in security and reconstruction aid to Ukraine and up to 8 billion in defense loans. The bill now moves to the Senate.
Tell our Senators, Andy Kim and Cory Booker, to vote to pass the Ukraine support Act. This legislation provides critical aid to our ally and strengthens sanctions against Russia as Ukraine continues to defend itself against Russian aggression.
Call:
Senator Cory Booker 202-224-3224 856-338-8922
Senator Andy Kim 202-224-4744 856-757-5353

Call To Action:
Trump has nominated his former criminal defense attorney and current Acting Attorney General, Todd Blanche, to serve as Attorney General of the United States. He is totally unfit to serve in this role! In his acting A.G. role, he has been politicizing the Justice Department, serving not as the nation's top law enforcement officer, but as Trump's personal attorney. He has pursued investigations into several of Trump's perceived political enemies , praised Trump's mass pardons of the Jan. 6 rioters and helped create the "Anti-Weaponization Fund" to pay these same rioters and other so-called political victims of the Biden Administration. He is also blocking the further release of the Epstein Files!
Tell Senators Andy Kim and Cory Booker, to strongly oppose the confirmation of Todd Blanche for Attorney General as he has shown to be unfit to serve as Attorney General. His loyalty is to the president, not the constitution.

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
1. URGENT: Call your Republican representative NOW and tell them to vote against billions more for ICE and Border Patrol: In the early hours of the morning on Friday, Republican senators (with the exception of Lisa Murkowski) passed Trump’s reconciliation bill, handing ICE and Border Patrol $70 billion to fund their kidnappings, concentration camps, and family separations. The House is expected to vote on the bill today, please make a call now.
Here's your script:
Hi, my name is [your name] and I'm a constituent from [your city].
I’m calling because I don’t want another penny of my taxpayer dollars to go toward ICE and Border Patrol. Republicans already voted to give them the budget of a small army last year, and now I see you are trying to use the reconciliation process to give them billions more.
Enough. Let’s focus on funding healthcare and housing instead of shoveling even more money to these out of control agencies. Tell Representative [Name] to oppose this reconciliation bill.
Representative Herbert Conaway 202-225-4765 609-438-6290
Representative Donald Norcross 202-225-6501 856-427-7000

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
Oppose the ICE and CBP Budget Reconciliation Funding Bill Passed IN THE Senate
Senators voted 52-47 for the $70 billion legislation to fund Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol for the next three years, through the end of Trump's term. The final vote came just before 5 a.m., after Republicans narrowly defeated multiple attempts by Democrats and Republicans to add language to the bill that would permanently ban Trump's settlement fund for political allies who believe they have been politically persecuted.
Despite bipartisan support for a Senate-passed bill that would have restored funding for all Department of Homeland Security departments except Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and much of Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), Republicans have failed to end the longest partial government shutdown in history. They are now attempting to use budget reconciliation, a process that allows the passage of bills with a simple majority if they have a significant budgetary impact, to secure more funding for ICE and CBP as well as the illegal war in Iran.
Because the budget reconciliation process requires new expenditures be offset by equivalent budget cuts, this will inevitably lead to additional cuts to essential social safety net programs like Affordable Care Act financial assistance. Some hardliners are also aiming to use this next reconciliation bill to force through voter suppression legislation, although this attempt is unlikely to succeed due to parliamentarian rules.
Call, or e-mail, our Senators, Andy & Cory to thank them for their support and urge them to stand strong.
Senator Cory Booker 202-224-3224 856-338-8922
Senator Andy Kim 202-224-4744 856-757-5353

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
As Trump keeps blithering on about his remoldeling adventures we need to stay focused and keep calling our Representatives!
CALL TO ACTION:
June 3, 2026: The House has passed Iran War Powers Resolution H.Con.Res. 86 by a vote of 215-208. Republican Reps. Massie (KY), Fitzpatrick (PA), Barrett (MI) and Davidson (OH) joined Democrats in voting YES. The resolution now moves to the Senate.
Call your Senators to urge them to support the House-passed War Powers Resolution H.Con.Res. 86 to end the administration's war with Iran. This unauthorized and unnecessary war has been wreaking havoc on our economy and energy supply and needs to end.

Hello SJNOWIndivisibles,
Just a few things.....
Please note that this Call to Action is time sensitive!
CALL TO ACTION:
President Trump just put right-wing private equity goon Bill Pulte atop the most powerful spy network in the world.
Trump’s pick for acting director of national intelligence has experience buying up home improvement companies. He definitely knows how to donate big money to the Trump campaign. But he has no experience whatsoever in national security or intelligence. Maybe he’s read a Tom Clancy novel, but we can’t confirm that. Now Trump has given his political attack dog access to the largest collection of sensitive data on the planet for one reason, and one reason alone: Trump wants Bill Pulte to weaponize our entire intelligence community against political opponents and cultural enemies.
This is another step toward authoritarianism in America. But we’re not powerless here. Congress has very little authority when it comes to blocking acting directors, but it does have massive amounts of leverage right now, because an intelligence-gathering law is set to expire in nine days without Congressional reauthorization and the Trump regime is obsessed with getting it passed.
You’ve heard us talk about Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act before. It allows warrantless surveillance of non-US citizens for national security purposes, but loopholes have been used to spy on US citizens as well. We’re already urging Congress not to pass this law without massive guardrails, but now, given the threat of the Pulte appointment, we’re encouraging Members of Congress to refuse to reauthorize this law -- even with guardrails -- until the Trump regime pulls this dangerous appointment.*
We want to be clear on this: Any Democrat who votes to reauthorize Section 702 right now will be complicit in Trump’s weaponization of intelligence data against Americans. This is one of the most important tests of whether Dems are able to identify the critical fights they need to wage to stem the tide of fascism.
Demand your Member of Congress use all available leverage -- including blocking reauthorization of surveillance legislation -- until Trump’s dangerous acting intelligence chief is removed.
Herbert Conaway US House of Rep 202-225-4786
Senator Andy Kim 202-224-4744
