Spatial Perception

The Spatial Perception app allows you to assess the speed of recognizing 2D and 3D objects in space, and is designed for iOS mobile devices. The app's test tasks ask the performer to compare two objects (geometric shapes) in 2 to 4 stages (the test mode can be selected in the settings). The choice of the number of stages will depend on the age and sports qualifications of the performers. At the first stage, 2D shapes (“Square”, “Rhombus”, “Hexagon”, “Circle”, “Triangle”) are offered for comparison. At each demonstration, the shapes randomly change the angle of rotation. In the second stage, 3D shapes are offered for comparison (“Cube”, “Cylinder”, “Sphere”, “Hexagonal prism”, “Octahedron”). During the demonstration, each time, the shapes change their position in three-dimensional space at random. At the third stage, the demonstration begins with the rotation of a 3D shape, after which the rotation of the shape is stopped and a comparison is performed. At the fourth stage, the demonstration starts with the 3D shape rotation but against the background of interfering visual stimuli. When the shapes are recognized, the performer clicks the corresponding field. If the shapes are the same, you should click on “Same” (green box), if they are different, click on “Different” (red box). 

In the settings of the mobile application, you can familiarize yourself with the shapes that will be presented in the test tasks, choose textures, the number of stages, and the number of attempts.

If you select 2D shapes, you can see how two-dimensional shapes look like. “3D shapes” allows you to see three-dimensional shapes, and rotating them in any direction gives you an idea of these shapes in space.

The program has a “Demo” mode. It allows you to complete a shortened test exercise (5 attempts in each stage).

Also, the program allows you to choose the texture with which the shapes will be presented. In the program settings, you can choose one of three textures. The choice of texture is determined by the age and sports qualifications of the performers.

Textures

The program allows you to choose the number of attempts from 10 to 40 per stage. The duration of the test exercise, with 20 trials per stage, lasts about 2.5 minutes.

Also, in this section, you can save a backup copy (“Save backup”) of the performed measurements in JSON format anywhere, add measurements from another device (“Add backup”, iPadOS), replace already saved measurements with new ones (“Replace backup”) or delete all data (“Delete all data”).
