You've come to the right place.
Whether you dream of directing, shooting, editing, or producing, CREATE’s Post-High Film Production stream is where it all begins. Designed for high school grads under 21 years of age from across Manitoba, this program gives you hands-on experience, pro gear, and real industry insight.
From script to screen, you’ll build your portfolio, learn how sets actually run, create projects for real clients, and get mentored by people who live and breathe filmmaking.
Ready to roll? Read through the application requirements carefully, put your portfolio together, then apply. We can't wait to hear from you.
NOTE: We continue accepting applications until the program is full! Visit our contact page and email us to see if there are still spots remaining.
Students join our program with a wide range of prior experience. We spend the first two months of the school year bringing everyone up to speed with a skills bootcamp designed to prepare you to take on your first major filmmaking project. Skills are then reinforced and added to throughout the rest of the year.
Students have the opportunity to produce content for CBC's Creator Network and Bell's Fibe TV1. Veteran producers deliver masterclasses and mentorship throughout production. NOTE: Students are paid for content that airs on broadcast platforms!

In the second semester of the program, students pitch their ideas for their major portfolio project. This is often a narrative short film, but some students choose documentary. All of the major portfolio projects are shown at our year-end screening with family, friends, and industry partners in attendance.

Students who demonstrate the requisite skill level and professionalism have the opportunity to work on supervised projects where they learn to work with clients manage a budget, gain experience as a freelancer, and build their portfolio. Industry professionals work closely with students through ongoing workshops and providing mentorship on major projects. Additionally, an Industry Liaison with decades of experience in the Manitoba film industry spends one day per week with students providing advice, guidance, and connections to opportunities specific to individual student interest.
Throughout the second half of the post-high year, students have the opportunity to be placed in a range of filmmaking internships at every stage of production, including office & pre-production, on set, editing, VFX, motion graphics, colour grading and more. Many of our internships have led to employment following completion of the program.
