Adjudicators
Mario Casanova is the Director of Bands at Trinity High School. Mr. Casanova received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of North Texas where he studied trumpet with Dr. Leonard Candelaria. He then attended the world famous Juilliard School of Music where he earned a Masters of Music degree in trumpet performance. While at Juilliard, Mr. Casanova studied trumpet with Mr. William Vacchiano and Vincent Penzarella.
Prior to his arrival at Trinity, Mr. Casanova was the Director of Bands at Paschal High School in Fort Worth. At Paschal his band made “Sweepstakes” in 2007 for the first time in 38 years. His jazz band was featured in the 2006 September issue of “Southwestern Musician”. Mr. Casanova has also taught in San Antonio at Winston Churchill High School. During his time at Churchill from 1999-2003, the marching band placed 3rd (2000) and 4th (2002) in the UIL State Marching Band Contest. In 1999 and 2002 the Churchill Marching Band placed 9th at the Bands of America Grand National Championships. Additionally, Mr. Casanova taught in Mesquite ISD, Donna ISD, and Kingsville ISD.
Mr. Casanova was a member of the National Orchestra of New York where he performed under many conductors such as Zuben Mehta, Otto Vernon Mueller and George Mester at Carnegie Hall. Mr. Casanova has also performed with the Juilliard Orchestra, San Antonio Symphony, Dallas Wind Symphony, Allen Symphony, Richardson Symphony, Corpus Christi Symphony and the Mexico City Philharmonic.
During the summers, Mr. Casanova is the jazz band director at the Stephen F. Austin State University band camp and the Texas A&M at Kingsville band camp. His professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association and Texas Bandmasters Association. Mr. Casanova is an active clinician, adjudicator and guest conductor throughout the state of Texas. He has served as a clinician at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention and the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention.
An accomplished knitter, Game of Thrones super-fan, and Arlington, Virginia native, Dr. Genevieve Clarkson joined the faculty of Oklahoma City University in fall of 2018.
Genevieve has been featured as a soloist at the International Women’s Brass Conferences in 2012 and 2014 as well as International Tuba Euphonium Regional and Biennial International Conferences in 2015, 2016, and 2017. Genevieve’s playing has taken her around the world as part of conferences and touring ensembles, including performances across North America, Europe, and Asia.
Genevieve plays contrabass tuba in the In Motus Quartet, a tuba-euphonium quartet made up of professional players and teachers from across the country. Assisted by a recording artist grant, the In Motus Quartet released their first CD in the spring of 2016 through Emeritus Recordings, and their second CD - featuring Octubaween-inspired music - in the fall of 2018.
Genevieve has performed with various symphony orchestras across the United States and has participated in music festivals around the world including the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute, the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival, and the Spoleto Festival in Spoleto, Italy. Most recently, Genevieve’s tuba playing took her on a three-week tour of China in the summer of 2017 where she ate her fill of dumplings and green onion pancakes. Genevieve received her DM in tuba performance from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music (2017), her MM in tuba performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (2011), and her BM in music education from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA (2009) where she graduated Magna cum laude and served as banner bearer for the School of Visual and Performing Arts. Her past teachers have included Daniel Perantoni, Timothy Northcut, Kevin Stees, John Cradler, and John Mueller.
Glenn Lambert is currently the Fine Arts Director in the Wylie Independent School District. His responsibilities are administering K-12 Band, Choir, Orchestra, Theatre, Dance, Art, and Elementary Music for 19 campuses in the school district.
Most recently, Mr. Lambert served for nine years as Head Band Director and Fine Arts Department Head at Wylie East High School. His responsibilities include the co-direction of the Marching Band, Concert Bands, and Jazz Band.
Prior to his appointment in Wylie, Mr. Lambert was the Head Band Director and Fine Arts Department Head at Shepton High School in Plano. While at Shepton, Mr. Lambert was recognized by the PTA with a Lifetime Membership in the Texas organization. He has also held band director positions in the Garland and Arlington School Districts.
Mr. Lambert is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. During his time at Texas Tech, Mr. Lambert was awarded the Theodore Presser Music Scholarship, and he was inducted into the Mortar Board Academic Honor Society. Mr. Lambert received his Master’s Degree in Trumpet Performance from Texas Christian University as a Graduate Assistant in the Band and Jazz Ensemble Departments.
Bands under Mr. Lambert’s direction have received consistent UIL Sweepstakes ratings in Marching and Concert Band competitions. His bands have also been recognized as “Best in Class” in Concert and Jazz festivals throughout the state. The Wind Symphony at Wylie East has twice been recognized as a National Winner of the Mark of Excellence Wind Band Honors Festival. The Wylie East Wind Symphony was a featured performing ensemble at the Music for All National Concert Band Festival in the spring of 2015. He is an active clinician and adjudicator throughout the area. Mr. Lambert’s professional affiliations include memberships in the Texas Music Educator’s Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, Texas Bandmaster’s Association, American School Band Director’s Association, Phi Beta Mu Honorary Bandmaster Fraternity, Texas Music Administrators Association, and Kappa Kappa Psi.
Mr. Lambert is married and has three daughters. Heather is 20, Claire is 17 and Emma is 14.

Jon Merritt is a percussion teacher in the Round Rock school district of Austin, TX. Jon is a graduate of Ohio University in Athens, OH. He also marched with the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps in 1991,1992 and 1993. Jon was the percussion section leader for the World Champion Cadets Drum Corps in 1993. He also enjoys performing with Several Brass Bands and Orchestras. After graduating from Ohio University with his Music Education Degree Jon was a band director for 13 years in Columbus, OH. He recently moved to Texas and is extremely excited to be teaching and performing with some of the finest educators in the country.
