An Intensive Program (IP) is a short (2 weeks) and intensive study program that brings together students and teachers of the West-Flemish Higher Education and Partner Higher Education Institution from the Philippines (Central Bicol State University of Agriculture, Saint Mary's University, Isabela State University and Nueva Vizkaya State University).

An IP aims to have students an teachers from the West-Flemish higher education institutions and partner higher education institutions from the Philippines collaborate about a specific development-related theme linked to the synergy project. An IP is an elective course within a field of study, which means that there are credits attached to student participation.

An IP aims to:

  • familiarize students with the development cooperation practices directly related to their education
  • establish sustainable cooperation between West-Flemish universities of applied sciences and partners (higher education institutions) in the Philippines
  • sensitize students about global challenges, world citizenship and sustainable development cooperation
  • have an inter-and mutlisciplinary approach
  • specific development-relevant content and learning outcomes linked to the West Flemish synergy project on adaptation to climate change through entrepreneurship in sustainable agriculture with possible mitigation co-benefits
  • use innovative methodology and collaboration
  • explore further development-relevant research and cooperation


Special attention is paid to the transversal themes of DGD: gender, D4D and sustainable development
