my logo design + its iterations:
This was my first officially completed logo design. After the very long process that it took to create this, I still decided that I wanted to make iterations of my logo so that no matter where I put it, it would match its surroundings. I'm really proud of this logo design and I think it's something that I'll continue to use.
This iteration was when I finally decided that I wanted to keep the same design of my logo and just change up the colors. I ran into an issue with the white, but decided to put it inside of a circle. This circle idea continued to inspire further iterations (seen below).

magazine mockups:
I made this magazine cover for Mother's Day. My teacher suggested the idea and I agreed that it would be a very cute idea. I wanted to give my mother something personal rather than bought. I created this fake magazine and put my mother on the cover after getting sweet quotes from her favorite people. My teacher then suggested that we print it and put it on a magnet; my mother loved it.
I created this mockup on Canva which already had templates for people who were looking for something already cohesive.
For this specific mockup, I decided to make my own magazine without using any templates which I loved because it was a personal gift, but I wanted to explore some of the templates and see how I could make some of them my own.
Those are seen below:
Once discovering the Canva templates, I decided that I wanted to explore a variety of options. I chose this specific design because I liked how simple it was. I think the organization of the cover made it very visually appealing and I decided it would be perfect for an animal.
Picking a design that wouldn't take away from the cat was crucial for this cover to not feel cramped or messy. I'm really proud of this cover and the picture that I used for it.
Overall, this was my favorite magazine mockup that I did. I fell in love with its simplicity and the limited color palette. This cover was also something that my family loved and really appreciated.
After creating the "Meow Mag" cover, I wanted to make something that looked a bit more like the average magazines that you see in stores. I knew that I wanted the perfect balance between the magazine feeling complete but not too crammed or messy. To do this, I wanted to choose a photo that had a blurred background to avoid distraction.
This photo was taken on an iPhone, using the "Portrait" mode. The blurred background was perfect for what I wanted to accomplish.
Looking back at this, I might've made some changes. I could've used this same photo but after I'd used Photopea to edit it and make everything but my dog black and white. This might've made both the dog and the text surrounding her pop a bit better.
