Hi! My name is Siobhan Smyth and currently, I'm a junior at Harrison High School where I've grown to love digital/graphic design and writing. I was born and lived in The Bronx up until I moved to Harrison with my mother and brother when I was in the 4th grade.
I truly value equality; my mother is Puerto Rican, Ecuadorian, and Peruvian and I'm white-passing. Due to this, I've grown up to recognize the blatant racism that my mother has experienced, especially when she's around me. My mother has raised me to believe that discrimination, not only due to race, is unacceptable no matter the person. I wish to go into criminal law in order to help people who feel as though they haven't been represented and their story hasn't been told; the discrimination that convicted criminals face is saddening and unfair, especially when they're silenced before being able to speak their truth.
