Speech rate/speed is the term given to the speed at which you speak. It's calculated in the number of words spoken in a minute. A normal number of words per minute (wpm) can vary hugely. The speaking rate has been found to be related to many factors: individual, demographic, cultural, linguistic, psychological, and physiological. Quené (2005) found that speaking rate depends mainly on utterance length.
