Upcoming events and dissemination activities
Workshop 2: our second Nordforsk-financed meeting took place February 7-9, 2024. The host was the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland.
Workshop 3: our third meeting took place in Reykjavik, Iceland, July 2-4th. The host was Iceland University.
ISME 2024 (July 28-August 2, 2024): we have submitted a symposium presentation on the Singing Map project for the upcoming International Society for Music Education (ISME) world conference. The presentation is entitled "Singing Maps: Developing networks to support traditional and Indigenous singing practices in Nordic music education"
NNRME (March 19-21): we plan to submit a paper on Singing Maps project to the upcoming Nordic Network for Research in Music Education (NNRME) which will be held in Bodø, Norway. Submission deadline November 15.
ICTMD (January 2025): David Johnson and David Hebert presented Singing Maps for the International Council of Traditional Music and Dance in Wellington, NZ.
SMNR-Hub (May 2025): we have applied to NORDFORSK for a Nordic Research HUB 3.5 year grant to establish a project group with six collaborating universities to develop tradition bearer profiles for the Singing Map, and to integrate Singing Map into teacher education across the Nordic countries.
