Thesis: The migratory pattern and identification of habitat patches of nesting success of Merops philippinus
Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, IndiaIn the croplands of the Gangetic Delta, India, these birds nest during summer for breeding. Farmers want the land to be concretised to prevent agricultural landloss. Unfortunately, the concretisation of the river cliff means destruction of the natural habitat of these birds, and therefore loss of natural regulation in pest control. My research pointed out where the habitat corridors should be during the concretisation to maintain the bird population during breeding using climate, soil, insect, and some aquatic predictors, and birds' nesting, breeding success, and a few other demographic variables as latent and response variables. I used a combination of process-based and machine learning models.Thesis: Ecological mechanism behind the decrease in migratory bird diversity
