Coach Heath Moenck has been leading Simpson’s distance and cross country program since 2011, helping athletes grow through consistent training, team culture, and steady development. A former University of Iowa runner himself, he has coached multiple All-Americans, national qualifiers, and record-holders during his time with the Storm. With past coaching experience at St. Thomas and Augustana, Coach Moenck brings a wide range of knowledge.
A Simpson graduate and longtime coach, Coach James Hoffman brings years of experience and consistent results to the Storm sprint crew. A former football and track athlete himself, Coach Hoffman has guided Simpson sprinters to dozens of all-conference honors, school records, and national appearances. With a deep connection to the program and a focus on individualized progress, he has built a reputation for developing athletes who show up in big moments.
A seven-time NCAA Division II All-American and Iowa native, Coach Ashlan Burton brings elite experience and personal attention to Simpson’s throwing program. After a decorated career at the University of Central Missouri, she is now focused on helping each athlete grow through individualized training and
team culture.
Coach Carter Berkey is a Simpson alum and school record holder in the indoor long jump. As a two-time NCAA national qualifier, he competed in both the long and triple jump throughout his collegiate career, earning multiple All-Conference honors and helping set a high standard for the program. Now coaching the events he once excelled in, Carter brings both technical knowledge and personal experience to the role. He is passionate about Simpson, and is focused on helping the next generation of jumpers thrive on and off the runway.
