Privacy Policy for Clean Capture

Clean Capture is a Chrome extension for capturing full webpages or selected areas and exporting screenshots as PNG, JPEG or PDF. This policy explains how the extension handles information.
Information processed
When you start a capture, Clean Capture accesses the selected webpage to create your screenshot. It processes webpage content, the page title, screenshot dimensions, capture type and capture time.
Screenshots may contain personal or sensitive information displayed on the page. You control which pages and areas you capture.
The extension temporarily reads the current page URL to check whether capture is supported. It does not save that URL as capture metadata or collect your browsing history.
Local processing
Screenshot capture, image processing, preview and file export take place on your device.
Clean Capture does not upload screenshots, webpage content or capture metadata to the developer or an external server. It does not require an account or use analytics, advertising trackers or remote screenshot services.
How information is used
Information is used only to:
• Capture the webpage or area you select.
• Display your screenshot preview.
• Suggest a filename using the page title and capture date.
• Export your screenshot in your chosen format.
• Manage locally stored captures.
Screenshot content is not sold, shared for advertising, used for profiling or used to train AI models.
Storage and retention
Captures are stored in the extension’s local browser database on your device.
The extension keeps up to five recent captures. When a new capture is saved, older captures beyond this limit and captures more than 24 hours old are removed.
This cleanup happens when a new capture is saved. Captures are not automatically deleted exactly 24 hours after creation if you do not take another capture.
Deleting your information
You can select “Delete capture” in the preview to remove that capture from the extension’s local storage.
Uninstalling Clean Capture removes its extension-local data. Files you have downloaded remain on your device until you delete them yourself. Copies you share or store elsewhere are managed separately.
The developer cannot access or remotely retrieve your locally stored screenshots.
Browser permissions
Clean Capture uses these permissions:
• activeTab: Provides temporary access to the tab you explicitly choose to capture.
• scripting: Allows the extension to scroll the selected page, display the area-selection interface and restore page state after capture.
These permissions are used for the screenshot features you request.
Sharing and third-party services
Clean Capture does not automatically share your captures with anyone.
If you upload, email or otherwise share an exported screenshot, that action is outside the extension. The receiving service’s privacy policy applies.
Google Chrome and the Chrome Web Store operate under their own privacy policies. This policy covers the Clean Capture extension, not Google’s services or websites you visit.
Security
Keeping captures on your device avoids transmitting them to a screenshot-processing server. However, local storage is not a guarantee against access by someone who can access your device or browser profile.
Clean Capture does not add its own encryption to stored screenshots. Review captures before sharing them and protect your device appropriately.
Limited Use
Clean Capture’s use of information received through Chrome permissions is limited to providing its screenshot capture, preview and export features, consistent with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated to reflect changes to the extension or its data handling. The effective date above will identify the latest revision.
