The first thing you do when you meet new people is, of course saying hello, but more often than not the greeting will send you to a knowing-each-other session by getting asked your name and address, for example. So, here are some helpful sentences to ace your first meeting with new people!
These are the general steps to introduce yourself to someone or a group of people you just meet or know.
Begin with greetings
你好 (Nǐ hǎo) = Hello / Hi
您好 (Nín hǎo) = Hello (the formal way to address someone)
(Dàjiā hǎo) = Hello (everybody) **addressing a group of people
Time word + 好 (hǎo) = 早上好 (Zǎoshang hǎo) Good morning
Introduce your name
(Wǒ jiào …) = My name is...
(Wǒ de míngzi jiào …) = My name is...
(Wǒ shì …) = I am...
(Wǒ de míngzi shì …) = My name is... (a more straightforward way)
Express your pleasure to meet them.
(Hěn gāoxìng rènshi nǐ) = Nice to meet you.
(Hěn gāoxìng rènshi nín) = Nice to meet you (formal)
(Hěn gāoxìng rènshi dàjiā) = Nice to meet you all! (address a group of people)
Example
Nǐ hǎo, wǒ jiào Wēi lián, hěn gāoxìng rènshi nǐ.
(Hi, my name is William. Nice to meet you.)
