Designing Our Game, Agathokakological

Today we started designing our game called Agathokako.

Agathokakological is an 18th century word! Agatho means good and kako means bad. Just like the title of our game, in this board game, the players fight each other as a "good" or a "evil". Today, we made the general concept and ideas of the game. For programming, we made our sprites.

Here is a basic outline of the rules:

-This is a four-player board game.

-Two players are "good", other two players are "evil".

-Evil players know what each player is.

-Good players do not who is who.

-There are 5 voting seasons.

-Two players can vote in the first season.

-Three players can vote in the second season.

-Two players can vote in the third season.

-Three players can vote in the fourth season.

-Three players can vote in the fifth season .

-Evil payers can vote for both good and evil.

-Good players can only vote for good.

-Evil wins if at least two of the voting seasons becomes a failure.

-The voting "fails" when at least one of the votes are for evil.

-Good players win when they correctly guess who are the evil players, or when the voting seasons didn't become a failure twice.

First Day of Programming

Today was the first day of programming.

Before we started, we took about 30 minutes to plan our programming. We started to figure out how to randomize our 4 players so they have two good and two evil players at a time. Also, we worked more on our sprites.

3/26/19

Second Day of Programming

Today was our second day of programming.

Hannah worked on the text box that will appear in the bottom of the game to inform the reader about what will happen next and to manage the time for each trials and voting sessions. The teller sprite will be the manager of the game. I also worked on some of my player sprites. Sierra worked on her boards design and the voting process. The game will ask two select players what players they would like to vote for. The programming is not quite done, but can be finished within the next week or so.

Third Day of Programming

Today was our second day of programming Agathakako.

Today Sierra continued the voting programming. Now, certain votes have different out comes and affect the outcome of votes for good and evil. Today Hannah continued to program what the teller would say to the players and make the game flow smoothly. She also finished her teller sprite and the player sprites. Next week, she will work on the timer and distorted voice record along with the teller script.

Fourth Day of Programming

Today was our fourth day of programming

Today Sierra worked on her selection programming and worked on back grounds.

Fifth Day of Programming

Today was our fifth day of programming.

Today Sierra finalized her selection programming and made progress on her voting programming. She also worked out the randomization of each piece of programming using scratch paper.

First, the challengers are separated into 2 groups, "good" and "evil". There are 5 voting seasons. Two players can vote in the first season. Three players can vote in the second season. Two players can vote in the third season. Three players can vote in the fourth season. Three players can vote in the fifth season. The goods are only allowed to vote "success". The evils can choose to vote between "success" and "fail". The voting season fails when there is at least one "fail" vote. The goods need to guess all of the evils correctly at the end of the game or stop the evils from turning the voting seasons into a failure twice. The evils need to turn the voting seasons into a failure at least twice without letting the goods know who they are. The season leader gets to choose who gets to vote in the season. The first season leader is number 1 and the leader changes in each season.
