The Italian Synchrotron Radiation Society (SILS) annual conference took place at the University of Calabria in Rende from September 5th to 7th, 2024.
Following the previous conferences in Trieste and Rome, we were pleased to bring the scientific community together again, this time at the University's campus in Arcavacata, within the city of Rende.

Exploring Scientific Frontiers in Southern Italy
The conference will feature scientific content, including plenary lectures, micro-symposia, oral communications, and flash talks. We are planning 4 plenary lectures, 15 micro-symposia with 30 keynote presentations, and discussions on the latest developments in free electron laser and synchrotron radiation research. This year, it is our pleasure to announce the hosting of a workshop focusing on the "Bilateral Scientific Collaboration between Italy and the European XFEL: ongoing projects and prospective developments".

STAR Research Infrastructure
The University of Calabria is home to the new STAR research infrastructure, featuring Hard X-ray facilities and interconnected laboratories that provide scientific services, demonstrating its dedication to collaboration and scientific exploration.
