Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles provide guidelines for the development of curriculum that meets the learning needs of all students. Though often discussed in the context of providing access for students with disabilities, the UDL framework was developed with consideration for the full range of students who may enter a classroom. This includes students with disabilities as well as a wide variety of students including gifted students, those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and students with different learning styles. The UDL framework provides guidance for creating instructional strategies, learning objectives, course materials, and assessments that are flexible and can be adjusted to accommodate individual needs.

The UDL framework incorporates THREE KEY PRINCIPLES:

1) Multiple Means of Representation

2) Multiple Means of Action & Expression

3) Multiple Means of Engagement
