Mrs. Heather will be flying in to do our Nutcracker photography again this year.

Please review the following carefully to ensure picture day runs smoothly:

• Parent Helpers: All dancers under age 12 must have a female parent/helper present. Do not drop off dancers under 12 alone. Parents will assist with dressing and returning costumes in an organized manner. Parents are not allowed in the photo room.

• Arrival & Prep: Dancers must arrive 30 minutes before their time slot with full hair and makeup already done. 

• Time Slots: If your dancer misses their assigned time, they may miss the group photo. Individual photos may not be possible later due to the tight schedule.

• Missed photos: There are no make-up days for picture day. 

• Check-In & Dressing Rooms:

  • Upon arrival, go to Studio C to pick up costumes from the parent volunteer. Do NOT find your own costumes. 

  • Dancers will change in Studio B (girls’ dressing room). Windows will be covered.

  • A designated bathroom will serve as the boys’ dressing room. Only boys changing costumes may use this space.

• Hair & Makeup:

  • We will not assist with buns. Please practice at home and bring hairspray for touch-ups.

  • Makeup: Heavy stage makeup required. Fake lashes are encouraged (except Party Boys, Gingerbreads and Bakers, who may wear mascara only).

  • Mice: Wear makeup for photos, but not for shows.

  • Gingerbread Parents: Please see the photo to the left for an example of the fake eyelashes that you draw on your dancer. 

  • NO nail polish-natural nails only!!!

  • Lipstick:

    • Nutcracker roles: Red, smudge-proof only (e.g., Lipsense).

    • Clara: Pink, smudge-proof only.

  • Costumes returned with permanent makeup stains or damage will incur a minimum $100 replacement fee. 

• Undergarments: All dancers must wear nude undergarments under tights for photos and shows. They should be skin-tone and invisible under costumes (age-appropriate options allowed).

• Hair Notes:

  • Waltz/Snow dancers: Use a cinnamon bun, not a “doorknob bun.”

• Party Parents: If you’d like a photo, please come during the Party Kids time slot.
