Walking Tours and Trails in Norfolk and Portsmouth

This self-guided tour allows you to follow the Cannonball Trail through 400 years of Norfolk and American history. The trail winds along the shoreline of the Elizabeth River and through the districts of downtown Norfolk.

The Elizabeth River Trail runs for 10.5 miles between Harbor Park Stadium and Norfolk International Terminals.

Highlights along the trail include Town Point Park, the USS Wisconsin, Fort Norfolk, Plum Point Park, and several of Norfolk’s historic neighborhoods.

The Norfolk Trail of Honor is dedicated to those service members with a direct connection to City of Norfolk who have received the Medal of Honor.

There will be ten plaques located in Wisconsin Square, adjacent to the battleship. Each plaque will tell the story of the recipient’s exploits and a little about their lives.
