Weston, Henry

Henry Weston was born in Norfolk around 1835. His parents were James and Lucy Weston. He enlisted into Company C of the 10th USCT Infantry Regiment on February 8, 1864.He was listed as a farmer before enlisting at Craney Island on October 20, 1863. Unit involved in Butler's operations along the southside of Petersburg and Richmond in August 1864. Captured Ft. Powhatan in May 1864. Served along the Rio Grande in Texas after the war before being mustered out in May 1866. He married Lucy Shield in 1868. According to the 1880 US Census, Weston was working as a domestic servant in Norfolk. He had at least one child, a daughter named Mary L. Hawkins, who died in 1926.
