RESEARCH AT UNION COLLEGE
What Makes Text Feel Human? Exploring the Cues of AI Content Recognition.
March 2025 - June 2026
Advisor: Dr. Shruti Mahajan
Other Researchers: Syed Mahir Ahamed
This project combines the disciplines of Cognitive Neuroscience and Human-AI Interaction. I aim to understand how humans detect differences between human- and AI-generated written texts.
I was fortunate to receive the Templeton Fellowship from Union College to fund my summer research. Along with that, I also received a Student Research Grant [SRG] to support data collection. Read more about the project on the Templeton Institute (TI) website! You can find it under "Summer 2025," and it is titled "How Do Humans Detect Differences between Human and AI-Generated Written Texts?".
I was invited as one of the two panelists for the TI Steinmetz Day Special Session at the 36th Annual Steinmetz Symposium, 2026! The session featured student presentations on interdisciplinary undergraduate research and was chaired by guest speaker Vauhini Vara.
Neuropolitics of Aging: Cognitive Decline as a Predictor of Political Attitudes and Behaviors.

Current Status: Completed & Manuscript in Preparation.
Interdisciplinary senior honors thesis in Neuroscience & Political Science.
The goal of this thesis is to examine whether cognitive decline affects political behaviour as people age. Presented this research as an oral presentation at Union College's 36th Annual Steinmetz Symposium!
