Shodor Wins Alfred P. Sloan Award for Back-to-Back Years
In 2009, Shodor won the Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility for the second year in a row. Shodor was the recipient of this award for three out of the past four years (06', 08', 09').
Shodor Receives Funding From National Spending Bill
North Carolina Congressman David Price announced Monday, December 14, 2009 that he had secured approximately $10 million in funding (allocated from a House of Representatives spending bill) for economic development in the Triangle area. Of that $10 million, $200,000 was earmarked for Shodor to put towards the Computing MATTERS project to help Triangle-area high school students' master 21st Century work skills as apprentices and interns.
Shodor Interns Present at the MCNC/NCREN 25th Anniversary Celebration in Cary, NC
On December 3, 2009, Sidhartha Jandhyala and Avi Aggarwal presented the iPhone/iPod Touch application they worked on as Shodor apprentices. The application, called Spinner, is a graphing app based on an applet from Shodor's online curriculum, Interactivate. The Microelectronics Center of North Carolina ( MCNC) is a non-profit organization that improves learning and collaboration in North Carolina's education community through advanced networking technologies and systems. The North Carolina Research and Education Network (NCREN) is a leading statewide optical network produced by MCNC.
