The Artificial Connected Being (ABe)
Often times we forget that we are merely miniscule portions of a highly complex and connected system of Brobdingnagian proportions, which as a whole, we refer to as Nature!
The Connected Artificial Being (ABe)
- I hope to see the ABe fully functional in my life time.
We are in the process of making an Artificial Being (ABe) which is basically a Cyber Physical System comprising a collection of mobile networked robots, sensor nodes and other devices - all of which in toto form the Being. Though these entities constituting the network are physically separable/mobile, a set of mobile agents that roam and knit through these nodes act like biological cells that nourish each of them with valuable nuggets of information gained by sharing each other’s experience, thus unifying them as the Artificial Being. The robots, sensors, nodes and devices depend on the mobile agents to serve them code (programs or services) that help them execute tasks, refine/evolve the code based on the results of execution and then share the same with other robots that constitute the Being.
This work also aims at driving these robots using synthetic emotions thus making the ABe to generate and react according to its internally generated emotions. Most of the mechanisms used in our work are inspired by those that exist around us in Nature. This makes the mechanisms cater well to real open world conditions contrary to those used in simulations in the closed worlds. All experiments are either emulated using a static cum mobile agent platform developed in-house at the Robotics Lab. The platform, nicknamed Tartarus, can run on several interconnected computers and/or robots and even embedded systems through which a set of mobile agents knit through and facilitate the realization of the necessary distributed and decentralized intelligence and learning mechanisms.
We are also looking into decentralizing federated learning and evolutionary programming to implement agri-logistics as part of this project.
