I am a versatile and experienced Kathak dancer with over eight years’ professional performance experience. Originally from Mumbai, India I am now based in Leeds, UK after having completed my MA in Dance and Creative Enterprise from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. I have performed at arts festivals, prestigious venues, and international platforms in India and the UK including the Leeds Playhouse, Carriageworks Theatre, Riley Theatre, and outdoor spaces like Headingley Stadium. I have been associated with Dance Studio Leeds, The Middle Floor, and Open Source Arts.
As a contemporary practitioner of a classical dance form, I integrate Kathak’s aesthetics with experimental theatre, creating work that bridges cultural history and modern expressions. I bring a holistic understanding of performance production and audience engagement, informed by my collaborations with leading organisations in the UK and India like Art X Company (India), Drama School Mumbai (India), and beej Foundation for Performing Arts (India), as well as South Asian Arts-UK in Leeds.
Since 2024, I have taken a keen interest in teaching Kathak authentically with the support of King's Trust (formerly known as the Prince's Trust). I received the prestigious DYCP grant from Arts Council England to explore my creative practice and choreographic inquiry which I am utilising to further my practice as a choreographer.
Recent projects include:

THE THUMRI EXPERIMENT Watch an excerpt
Performed a thumri with two dancers who had no background in Kathak. A thumri is a distinct music-dance genre of Indian origin with huge cultural significance. In the creative process, they were invited to interpret and embody it as best as they could.
February 2022 - Riley Theatre, Leeds, UK
WE ARE OTHER Watch an excerpt
An ensemble choreography that explored the sociological concept of ‘Otherness’ specifically through the lens of gender and identity. The highlight of the process was adopting the storytelling techniques of Hasta Mudras (hand gestures) from the Kathak repertoire to blend with contemporary movements.
