Elections: Voting for the Board

Dues-current local members can only vote for the Board of Directors when they have been engaged in temple activities for at least one calendar year, either virtually or in-person, within that year. Engagement with the temple can be participation in online or in-person classes, committees, or on-site restoration and cleanups. The same criteria is required for local members wishing to run for the Boad.

Dues-current national/international members cannot vote for the Board of Directors, nor can they run for a Board of Directors position. The only exception is when a local member who has already served on the Board relocates out of state or country. In this case, a local Board member may move out of state or country and maintain their position, and they may run for the Board when out of state or country if they already have served a term on the Board and have proof of consistent active contribution to Board activities.

Elections: Applying to Run for the Board

When local members run for the Board of Directors, the local membership votes to elect those members into office. After that, the newly selected Board of Directors vote on officer positions. The Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and any newly specialized (e.g., Director of Community Relations) or Member-at-Large positions require that the local member has been engaged in temple activities, either virtually or in-person, for at least one calendar year. The President position on the Board of Directors requires a local member to have been engaged in temple activities, either virtually or in-person, for at least two years.

Board members who have resigned for any other reason not related to their career, academic pursuits, or medical reasons (family or self), may not under any circumstances run for the Board after their resignation in the future. The career, academic, or medical reason must be documented, verifiable, and sent to the Board.

The next Board Election will be in September 2023. The temple will send out voting information via email to local paid members who fit the criteria listed in this document at during September 2023. These members will have two weeks to send in the application to run for the Board of Directors. Voting will be an anonymous online process that must be completed by the deadline given when it is announced.
