Christmas Market 2018

The Shibden Mill Inn held a two day Christmas Market in December 2018 and Shibden Valley Society had a tombola stall at the market instead of having the annual Christmas Coffee Morning.

We had many kind donations for prizes from members and committee and had such a great first day, that we could not run the stall on the second day as we had nothing left! Many thanks to all who contributed.

2018 Shibden Valley BBQ at Simm Carr Farm

Work for the BBQ began on Saturday 11 August with committee collecting chairs, tables and grills from store and then delivering to Simm Carr Farm. Committee met at 10am on the day to put up tents, arrange tables, chairs, wash cutlery, plates and prepare the Bar!

Cooking started early [we pre-cook some items] and the chefs seemed to be in good spirits as usual

Guests started arriving and making themselves at home around the various tables.

Chef Fred

Looks like a queue!

Food was quickly snapped up and the bar offered welcome refreshment.

Apart from a 'little' rain everyone seemed to be having a great time

Guests were kind enough to allow photos to be taken.

David Horrocks-Taylor mentioned that the Shibden Valley Society will be 50 years old in 2020 and we are hoping to gather photos and articles from members to produce a special anniversary newsletter

Some of our Ward Councillors - where's Roger?

Mary was enjoying herself with other guests

Here are the Dessert ladies!

Fantastic job serving

The dessert table was as popular as ever

Our committee member Gianina serving some delicious desserts,

Chef 'Jonny' manning the BBQ

Our host Richard relaxing - for a few minutes anyway.

Food is done - just the speeches and the washing up!

Richard gave a great speech which included gifts for David and Ann Witcher

David Witcher accepting a gift from the Society for his work over the years.

David's wife Ann accepted a gift for putting up David working on planning issues for more than 13 years

David Witcher stepped down from his Planning Officer role with the Society in August 2018

The Committee and Members of Shibden Valley Society would like to thank David for all his efforts during his years as Planning Officer.

His shoes will be very hard to fill!

Thanks go to Simon Heaton - Shibden Mill Inn - for his continuous support of Shibden Valley Society and for providing the beer and raffle prizes.

Thank you to all members and guests who contributed prizes for the raffle - we cannot do without your generosity.

We would like to thank everyone who assisted with the setting up and taking down of all the equipment, tents, tables and chairs. Thanks also to the ladies who did the washing up - you were brilliant!
