SHAVE GUIDE FOR ECHOCARDIOGRAMS
Shave an area 4-6 rib spaces wide, caudal to the armpit, and dorsally about ½ of the way up the chest.
SHAVE GUIDE ABDOMINAL ULTRASOUNDS
Shave 1-2 inches up on the ribcage, and along the side of the abdomen (midway between the spine and belly). This allows proper visualization of small livers, kidneys, and adrenal glands. Patients should have fasted for 8-12 hours prior. Diabetic patients are exempt from fasting.
