The path is approximately 10 kilometres (6.3 miles) long, is relatively flat, and is described as being suitable for families.
Route Overview
The route starts at New Road Sheerness and follows a circuit through the major districts of the town:
Inland Section: The route cuts through the residential areas of Mile Town and follows roads like St. George's Avenue, Halfway Road, and High Street, connecting the town's centre.
Coastal Section: The path then runs along the northern coastline, utilizing the coastal path that runs parallel to Marine Parade. This section offers views across the Thames Estuary and is where walkers/cyclists can look out for the masts of the SS Richard Montgomery, a sunken WWII shipwreck.
Eastern Edge: It wraps around the eastern boundary of the developed area near Merryman's Hill and the open land leading towards Barton's Point Coastal Park (an area mentioned as a great place to stop on the official route). This area also features historical defence structures known as the Queenborough Lines.
Tesco Loop: Finally, the route loops back through the northern part of the town, passing through nearby Blue Town (a historic residential area near the old naval dockyard) before returning to the Town Centre area.
You can expect to see a mix of urban areas, historic streets, the seafront promenade, and coastal parkland along this circular journey.
