Who We Are

Sheppey Community Cycling Club (SCCC) is a volunteer-led cycling group based on the Isle of Sheppey, dedicated to promoting inclusive, social, and health-focused bike rides for adults of all abilities. Our mission is to make cycling accessible, friendly, and welcoming for everyone — whether you're completely new to cycling, returning after time away, or just looking for a supportive community to ride with.

We offer regular group rides, one-to-one beginner support, and free equipment loans — all led by trained volunteers who are passionate about helping others enjoy the benefits of cycling.

Our Founding & Structure

The club was officially launched on 25 June 2022 through a partnership between We Are Cycling UK, Sheppey Matters, and The UK Wolfpack:

• We Are Cycling UK is our parent organisation — we operate under their guidance and support, benefiting from their national expertise, resources, training, and insurance. For more information about We Are Cycling UK, you can head to ~ https://www.cyclinguk.org/

• Sheppey Matters continues to support us in a financial and administrative capacity, holding funds and offering logistical backing as a local health and wellbeing charity.

• The UK Wolfpack played a foundational role by designing the club’s branding, creating our original promotional materials, and supporting early operations such as risk assessments, social media, and community outreach.

Although we operate independently day-to-day, the club remains firmly owned and run under Cycling UK, with all activities aligning with their community cycling goals.

Sheppey Community Cycling Club is completely volunteer-run, with a growing team of dedicated leaders and helpers:

Committee & Governance

In 2025, the club introduced an official committee to help shape the future of the group. The committee meets monthly to discuss decisions related to ride planning, policy changes, training, and new initiatives. This structure ensures that all voices are heard and that the club continues to reflect the needs and values of its community.
