For this project, I had to find and write about two examples of Information Security reported from the media. I wrote about each article and what type of cybersecurity attack or issue it was. I also took some cybersecurity training which improved my knowledge and skills.
I learned that hacking is a huge ongoing issue everyday that needs to be fixed. I also learned what a ransomware attack is. For example the attacker locks and encrypts the victim’s data and can important files and then enforces you to make a payment to unlock and decrypt the data. I also learned how useful googles search engine can be to find factual news articles. I learned many new terms and types of hacking.

This article shares information about hackers breaking into AT&T email accounts to steal Cryptocurrency . Hacking is when an unauthorized user was able to gain access to peoples AT&T email accounts and steal there cryptocurrency. The people with emails through AT&T were affected by this attack. Huge multinational telecommunication holding companies like AT&T need to protect their brand , while cyberattacks like this make it look unsecure and not worth putting your money towards this brand. Hackers can be stopped by making the emails security settings the most secure it can be. Make sure turning on two factor authentication is on and added to help with hackers. Also Making sure passwords are strong and use many different characters and numbers.

Ransomware attacks are a type of attack in which the attacker locks and encrypts the victim’s data and can important files and then enforces you to make a payment to unlock and decrypt the data. Users of Apple Mac were affected by this attack. Ransomware attacks are pretty difficult to prevent. There are ways you can help prevent ransomware attacks by keeping your security software updated, not downloading sketchy/untrusted apps or attachments, not clicking on scam links, and keeping strong passwords all the time.
There was an assignment in this module to complete the CCBC Cybersecurity Training . I completed all of the videos and quizzes with 100%. This allowed me to learn and earn my Certificate.
