In order for data to be consumed easily, sheets need to be legible. Rows and columns do not automatically adjust to the size of the text or values entered in a cell. There are two different ways to adjust the size of a row or column.
You can manually change the size of a row or column. This is done the same way for either a row or a column.
Change row or column size manually:
To make column B larger, place your cursor on the line between columns B and C.
The arrow should turn into a black arrow pointing to the right.
Click and drag till the column is the desired size.
You can automatically change the size of a row or column. This is done the same way for either a row or a column. When changed automatically, the row or column will increase to the longest text or value.
Change row or column size automatically:
To automatically adjust column B, place your cursor on the line between columns B and C.

Double click.
