Queer Worlds

Once upon a time there were two drag Queens who were named Izanagi and Izanami. Izanagi wore a bright gold sequin dress that flowed on the ground as she walked in her six-inch gold stilettos. The other Queen wore a bright blue sequined dress that was similar in nature to the dress worn by Disney's Cinderella. Her shoes were rainbow-colored stilettos. These Queens longed to create a world that they could live in. They decided that they would build a staircase that would allow them to travel to the worlds from the drag queen spirit realm.

Now the Queens were so bored as they had no one to entertain, so they created a substance for them to create from. This substance was a glittery rainbow-colored foam that they would use to create a wide array of queer things. The two Queens came down the large glitter staircase that they had made and began their creation of the worlds.

“Hunty, this world is such a drag! Why don’t we create another Queen?” one of the queens said.

“Don’t you start telling me what to do, you dirty Queen! We will create them but we have to create a place for them to become creative in their drag,” the other replied.

So the Queens created a land that was made of glitter and rainbows that would harbor creativity for the Queens that would be created.

“We should create a world for those who fit into the category of dirty sex. A world that while there their wildest fantasies would become a reality,” Izanagi said.

“Yaaaaaassss queen. That world would be perfect of course. We would have to create the idea in their heads of consent,” Izanami replied.

So the Queens made a world for BDSM and Leather with a bridge connecting the drag realm with the BDSM World that was half rainbow and glitter and half red and black leather. The group of people that the Queens created for this realm received a book that presented instructions and allowed consensual actions to take place between the creations.

The bridges that connected the drag queen realm to the two worlds allowed for safe travel between the worlds so that the Queens could entertain both groups. The time finally came for them to create the people who would inhabit these worlds. The Queens created many different people and created them based upon type. All the gays who fit into the categories of the glitter realm were created and some were curious about the realm made of leather and wanted to experiment with it. So the Queens created a bridge that linked the Glitter World with the BDSM World and showed these individuals the bridge between the two worlds and likewise the same desire for the leather gays to experience the Glitter World came from the gays who fit into the world of leather.

As the unity of the worlds began to take shape, the Queens created music for each world and created a fourth bridge that intercepted the bridge between the worlds for their creatures to come into the drag realm. At this place the Queens would do makeovers and would help their creations in finding their lovers.

The worlds continued to live in harmony for many years and the drag Queens couldn’t be prouder of their created universe. So the Queens would come down from the drag queen spirit realm and would entertain all the queer people they created. The queer people fell in love with each other and they all lived happily ever after.

Author's note: I began by looking at how the worlds were created and looked at the gender roles of the original story. Within the original story Izanami and Izanagi were male and female and the male told the woman to not speak before him. The two deities were also family. The two deities used an emerald spear in order to stir the sea to create a foam that they could use to create. They also created the world with this foam and created a bridge in order to interact with the world that they created. Even though the two were brother and sister they assumed the positions of husband and wife. This drive of heteronormativity I wanted to avoid.

The worlds were made of a foam which had no other description which led me to being able to get creative about the color and description of the foam. I also pulled from queer culture which was difficult at first to write about because I had to avoid all talk of explicit sexual fantasy especially when writing about the taboo subject of Bondage, Dominance, Submission/Sadism, and Masochism (BDSM).

I also wanted to show unity between the worlds. The original story featured this unity of the land that Izanagi and Izanami created and by creating the staircase and the bridge this was accomplished. The staircase was also in the original story I read. I made the staircase my own by making it glittery and rainbow-colored.

This story was very fun for me to create and I will continue to make more queer content in the future but I figured why not do a fun story with drag queens?
