Before time on earth began the goddess and the god were there. Now the god and the goddess were intertwined within the same cycle, and in turn, the world was made by the combined power of the god and goddess. The god ruled the forests of the world while the goddess ruled the fields and the moon.
There was no other creature in sight, and the deities felt lonely. The goddess spoke to the god to whom she had given birth and who had grown into adulthood and said to him, “Why should we not create magical creatures of our own to be able to be one with nature and to be able to harness the power of our spirits to take care of the Earth in which I am?”
Thereupon the god replied to the goddess who gave birth to him, “I do not see why we cannot do what you might suggest. Perhaps it would be nice to be able to leave the Earth with this caretaker of the Earth while we continue our reign from the heavens.”
The goddess replied in earnest, “Oh how I long to return to my old self as the moon. How would we create the magical being?”
The god being wise in his age like an old owl replied, “Why don’t we form the being out of the Earth so that he may be one with us and be able to call on us should trouble arise within the world? The being would need others eventually to aid him and to give him companionship.”
To which the goddess replied, “Very well then, so we shall make the being out of the Earth from which he shall derive his powers.”
The god and goddess began to circle around the land which they wanted to use to create the being. As the being began to form, the god and goddess gave the being energy and in turn the being began to breathe. When the god and goddess had finished creating the being they called it humankind.
They told the human, “You shall have power for eternity as long as you use it for light, except should the power be used for darkness you shall see the light turn dark, warmth turn cold and death and sickness run rampant. Above all, you shall harm none with the power that we shall give.”
The human replied, “Blessed be thou for ye have made me of the earth and from it, I shall not return. I shall honor ye with an altar upon which I shall ask ye for blessing and from this altar I shall give thanks.” The goddess and god were satisfied with what the human spoke and began to ascend from the earth.
This was the way of creation, and the god and goddess blessed the human and called him Adam and created a garden called Eden around him that sprouted every good fruit and food that Adam could desire. Adam continued to use the altar for many years and became very wise in his years and learned the secrets of the god and goddess and discovered the inner god within himself.
To Be Continued…
Author's note: I began by looking at the Biblical story of the creation of Adam and then proceeded to incorporate some Wiccan beliefs such as the god and goddess. the god and goddess in Wiccan belief are nature itself although some Wiccans use a pantheon within their practice in order to understand the forces of nature. Although the creation story presented here is entirely fiction, the Biblical account is a parallel. The Bible is the ultimate source of truth for many Christian people and many believe in the Biblical account of creation in that they believe that Adam and Eve were the only people on the earth in the beginning. Some Biblical scholars believe that God made many people when He created the world and this would account for the many racial backgrounds on the planet. You can find the story of creation in the Bible in Genesis 2-3 and the idea of the god and goddess came from the book titled Solitary Witch: The Ultimate Book of Shadows for the New Generation by Silver Ravenwolf. This book is a handy aid to anyone who practices Wicca. Ravenwolf’s book helps people new to the Wiccan religion to understand the basic belief system of Wicca. Some external reading that one could do to better understand the roles of god and goddess are books by Scott Cunningham such as Wicca and Living Wicca.
