The final steps in the Scientific Method and the Engineering Design Process are sharing and communicating what had been learned. Each Friday all students from grades 4th-8th are expected to share a science or engineering-related article with the class that they discovered over the course of the week. This is an ongoing homework assignment. The students will share what they liked or disliked in what they found. For Science Friday both roles in sharing are emphasized--presenting and listening.
Mrs. Tremblay and the Library are aware of this project and are ready to assist.
For middle school students, Science Friday must be entered into Google Classroom. Fourth and fifth graders are required to hand in a short written summary of what they have found. This assignment is worth five points toward their weekly class contribution grade.
The Science Friday Fact is a discovery or explanation from the natural world that is based on verifiable experiments and thought to be true or correct.
Each Friday Fact is graded on five points:
Is the fact a discovery or explanation from natural science?
Is the fact presented and shared with the class?
Is the source identified? Older grades should be able to identify the original research.
What is the significance or importance of the fact?
Who can benefit from this knowledge?
