THEATRICAL TOUR OF THE ANDALUSÍ MEDINA BALISH

There will be a tour of the suburbs and Balish's medina. The most outstanding places of the andalusí period will be visited and explained (mosques, cobblestoned streets, walls, the fortress, main gates and arches, strategic blind alleys...). In addition some typical products of that period will be distributed: dried figs, raisins and almonds. There will a theatrical show along the visit with four characters who will come with us. They are:

- The traveller. In his performance he will talk about the importance of Balish as a medina and will recite the quotations and sayings that were collected about it during the historical period of Al-Andalus.

- Abulqasim Benegas. Last Nasrid mayor of Balish whose performance will deal with the fall of Balish in 1487.

 - Abu Llaafar Az-zayyat. A renowned Sufi master who was born in Balish. He will talk about his life and work and recite some of his mystic poems in Arabic and English.

 - Al-Balishía (La Veleña). The only known andalusí female poet from Balish. Her performance will deal whith love and her character as a woman and poetess as well as everyday life in the alleys of the Andalusian medieval Balish. She will recite her one and only known poem in Arabic.

The start is from the Plaza La Constitución next to the Puerta Real, and the Route ends in the Plaza de San Francisco. The duration of the tour is two and a half hours.

At the end of the tour brochures are distributed and your name in Arabic on a nice card as a souvenir.

RUTA TEATRALIZADA POR LA MEDINA ANDALUSÍ DE BALISH

Se realiza un recorrido por los arrabales y la medina de Balish. Se visitan y explican los lugares más destacados de la época andalusí (mezquitas, callejones, murallas, la fortaleza, portales y arcos principales, adarves ...). 

Además se distribuyen algunos productos típicos de esa época. Cuatro personajes de la época nos acompañan con sus actuaciones:

- La viajera. En su actuación hablará sobre la importancia de Balish y recitará las citas y dichos que se recogieron sobre ella durante el período histórico de Al-Andalus.

- Abulqasim Benegas. Último alcalde nazarí de Balish cuya actuación versará sobre la caída de Balish en 1487.

 - Abu Llaafar Az-zayyat. Un renombrado maestro sufí de Balish. Hablará de su vida y obra y recitará algunos de sus poemas místicos en árabe y castellano.

 - Al-Balishía (La Veleña). La única poeta andalusí conocida de Balish. Su actuación versará sobre el amor y su carácter de mujer y poetisa, así como sobre la vida cotidiana en la medina. Recitará su único poema conocido en árabe.

El inicio es desde la Plaza La Constitución junto a la Puerta Real, y la Ruta finaliza en la Plaza de San Francisco. La duración del recorrido es de dos horas y media aproximadamebte.

Al final del recorrido se distribuyen folletos y su nombre en árabe en una bonita tarjeta como recuerdo.
