Each printmaking series explores the intersection of structure and spontaneity through a set of layered, interchangeable plates. Each print is composed of multiple plates that can be reconfigured in endless combinations, each layer interacts with the others in new ways depending on sequence, placement, and color.
The core of this work lies in the idea of possibility. By creating a modular system, I allow the imagery to evolve-sometimes subtly, sometimes dramatically—based on the choices made in the printmaking process. Color becomes not only an aesthetic choice but a narrative one, shifting mood, tension, and meaning with each variation.
This process reflects on how outcomes in life or art are rarely fixed. Instead, they are built from a set of choices—some deliberate, some serendipitous—that interact with what came before and shape what follows. The interchangeable nature of the plates invites both control and chance, inviting viewers to consider how many versions of a story or idea might exist within the same framework.
I have played with this process of printmaking using both reflief and intaglio printmaking.
