If I could only give you one resource to help your child with their literacy, it might have to be Reading Rockets! You could spend hours exploring the site, and get something useful out of every second.
This video is an example of some of the great info you can find on Reading Rockets. This one will tell you about RTI, Response to Intervention
Some great ideas out together by the American Library Association to help you help your child, by helping the school library!
Students may check out books during their classes time in the library. Ask your child's teacher which day their library day is.
When a child checks a book out, they should bring it with them the next week for their library time to turn it in and check out a new book. If they need more time they are able to keep the book.
If they finish early, they can turn in their book and choose a new one 15 minutes before or after school hours.
We now have a makerspace area that students use during their library class. If your student needs to use the makerspace for school work/projects, or would like to borrow items from the makerspace, please contact me and we can make arrangements.
Keep in mind how important it is to allow children to choose books that interest them! Graphic novels, books about video games, how to draw books--they are all fantastic choices and will help children learn to read, and also foster a love of reading that will last a lifetime.
